Ter-Tech Feb. 25 Drift Event

You dont lift when you clutch kick, you keep you foot down on that gas pedal and then you kick the shit out of that clutch, after that is when modulate your throttle.

The clutch is disengaged. So for the time that you take holding the clutch down, the car is not going any faster. Hence, you lift. :)

I don't think the 1/4 of a second it takes to stomp the clutch equates to lift.

yeah i was thinking about that. I think i can clutch kick faster than i can blink.

Unless you are doing a massively early entry that by no means could be done otherwise, the use of the ebrake does not equate for nearly as long as you make it sound. I am a frequent ebrake user and I never keep my hand still on the ebrake.... pull up, drop down, continue.

who cares. Everyone just use what style you like and drive. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. But its about the fun not the My clutch kick is faster then your ebrake. WHO CARES.

one thing

i was told not to do any kind of manji entry because it slows you down too much
but i got 58mph entry.. wasnt the fastest one like 60ish

i do understand how its harder to gauge what kind of speed you need to just do a feint (no opp lock)
entry... i dont know.. i dont see why people hate manji entry so much.. on my first three runs i did a small manji entry with no brakes at 58..

but doing what you want and doing what the judges like i guess is what seperates street from pro

saying that D1 drivers do it with the Ebrake supports my theory. but do me a favor and watch some japanese Street drifting also.

next time i see a kid with a stock S13 doing a donut in a parking lot by clutchkicking I'll tell him he's almost ready for FD.

I totally agree with Funk on this one also. D1 they manji and they Ebrake a shit load but at really high speeds. then here they hate on both styles.

i always tell people what i think they should do, but the radar gun doesnt lie. different strokes for different folks, as long as its above xxx mph judging by whoever is the fastest is how i go.

and i dont know who e30 is, but tmac has good juevos, and entry speed normally from what i've seen.

thats cause here it's more of a money making show then it is a actual competition.

i think drifting should represent a personal style

its like skateboarding, everybody doesnt skate the same.

what the fuck is wrong with originality?

conformed drifting = lame

Thank you! Agreed 100% :bigthumbu

It's what drifting has always been about.

I think manji should never be used, meaning the word..... I'm gonna go out on a limb here, I don't mean to step on toes, and just call it a choku-dori... what it was called back in the day. Manji in japanese literally means swastika. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika Food for the masses. I've been needed to get that off my chest for months now...

imo perfect fun entry is grip feint then clutch kick, and from that point either full throttle or ebrake etend tillthe corner.

imo same concept as racing. either on the gas, or on the brake. as long as you arent diong that coasting shit or straight line braking before you initiate ill think its cool.

as much as i agree with you in the style aspect, from a judging aspect you gotta give a certain criteria you want to see so that you can judge accordingly depending on the course layout and stuff.

i wasnt at this event so i cant say anything about ti, but just from my personal experience. somewhat basic overview of if you do xxxx we want at least xxx speed, xxx entry point bla bla bla.

normally if im judging at an event i tryt o drive the track as much as i can as many different ways as i can.

I know how to initiate with an ebrake, we all started there.

Saying that a clutch kick = lift is BS.

I never said ebrake was lifting either - I said it was the safe way to enter - and it is.

Okay you guys i'm designing the next track layout. And it will have a tight 190 degree entry lets see you guys clutchkick that one. all the kart track guys will love this one.
