^good progress z4k! How much cardio do you do?

Why does every thread on this site turn into a homo bash fest? Fuck all of you stfu.

I weigh ~150# and Im 6'3... Ide like to get more weight but I have tried alot of shakes and the such, but no gain at all.

I dont really have a routine as of now, because I dont really want to work out without major or no gain at all.

So if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Ill get a picture up, of what I look like now.

Hey, I don't know if you read what I wrote before but when I started hitting the gym i was in the 130's - I'm 5'11" and I'm not very young anymore so good gains don't come easy (late 20's = big drop in natural Test). I'm up around 160 these days.

First suggestion - drop any preconceptions that make you think coming about gains will be quick or easy. You can get results but you will have to put in a lot time and effort. Some guys have great genetics, some don't. At 150 and 6'3", you have a fast metabolism and gaining weight will be a struggle in that you must discipline yourself to eat right and work out regularly if you want to see any improvement.

My best advice without going into too much detail, 6 high protein meals per day spread across the day. Breakfast - midmorning snack - lunch - midafternoon snack - dinner - night snack. Start working out 3 - 4 days a week. Do this for the first couple weeks or until you want more. Don't burn yourself out too quickly though - big starters mistake.

When you're at the gym, you're not going to want to spend a lot of time there. This is b/c you're trying to gain weight. Coupled w/ your fast metabolism, too much time in the gym and you'll never gain a pound. So 30-40 mins max. Try to exercise using the heaviest weights you can (without hurting yourself of course) doing 4-6 reps x3 (sets). By the 6th rep your muscles should be struggling to finish - that's how you find the right amt of weight. Try doing between 5~6 exercises. Muscle fatigue will probably prevent you from being able to do that right away but don't sweat it - in no time you'll be able to. Don't forget to warm up and stretch btw - just a good rule of thumb.

Before you even leave the house for the gym you should have a plan. Go here for some exercises: http://bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm There's also some great editorials so check them out. I'd bring a pen and paper with you to keep track of results and remind you of exercises - if you feel weird doing that, look around and you'll find many guys do this.

So I got a Body Fat test today at the gym. 13.1% down for ~ 16% last time(about a month ago). Down from 22%+ when I started the Gym. I'm pretty stoked about that. Pics in a Few!

I dont expect very fast gains, but I would like to look bigger than a stick figure. I eat as healthy as possible(my family is full of fast food junkies) and I eat 5-6 times a day because if not I feel hungry. I will try soon to pick up a weight gainer, but have had no results from them.

As per the gym, I work out with either my bowflex or my free weights. So no gym for me lol.

This is me as of 5 minutes ago, I don't really look my weight, but I'm 156 @ the doctors scale.

If I could gain weight, anyone can. Eat more, stop watching nascar (kidding), and work out with bigger weights doing less reps.

Here are just some ideas of what to eat at night before bed:

2~3 servings of cottage cheese. You can add fruit too if you don't like cottage cheese. Personally I only like the "Horizon" brand stuff from Whole Foods (and some Publix) and i like it so much i eat it plain.

Green apple slices and peanut butter. Lots of peanut butter.

Plain yogurt with fresh or dehydrated fruit.

or a casien protein shake. They give me diarrhea though so i don't touch em lol.

Gainers are garbage. They are just protein powders loaded up with nonsense as a substitute for food. Eat and drink a whey shake if you need more protein. But eat eat eat!!!

started going to the gym a few days ago with josh, sam and nick. been doing a lot of weight lifting and such. I also cut down on a lot of the unhealthy foods i was eating. i'll post more detailed info later

you can also do less weight but use concentrated movement... thats what steve reeves used to do.. and it worked out perfectly... best body in the history of hollywood... here is one of his routines

1. Shoulders - Press Behind Neck
2. Thighs - Hack Squat (toes pointed at 'ten and two' heels closed)
3. Calves - Toe Raise (on block of wood at least 6" thick)
4. Chest - Dips on parallel bars
5. Back - Chin behind neck
6. Triceps - Pressdown on lat machine
7. Biceps - Incline dumbell curl

His top form measurements were:

height 6'1"
weight 215lb
shoulder breadth 23 1/2 in
neck 18 1/4 in
chest 52 in
waist 29 in
hips 38 in
biceps 18 1/4 in
forearms 14 3/4 in
wrist 7 1/4 in
thigh 26 in
calf 18 1/4 in
ankle 9 1/4 in.

Note that his calf, biceps and neck are the same measurement. He
did this deliberately based on the concept of Grecian ideal
proportions.

I did concentration exercises yesterday (bicep day). I knew something good was happening b/c i was getting muscle fatigue faster after fewer reps than normal. I had to drop the lbs on my weights to keep going. Today they're pretty sore. I'll try this tonight w/ my shoulder routine...but idk how to flex my shoulders lol

I went to our gym we have in the community i live in for the first time yesterday. Oh man my legs are seriously sore from that.

^good progress z4k! How much cardio do you do?
I do about 30 mins 2 or 3 days a week. Light- med intensity. I'm working on getting my endurance up. I'd like to be able to jog a good pace and not get winded. My biggest problem now is Shin Splints! =/ They are getting better tho...

^^^+1 Good Advice!

Looking good zak. Pretty quick progress man.

Thanks sir! Same with you! I wish I started when I was your size and not wait till I was push 200 then work backwards...

Looking Good Z4k .. I Will Hit You Up With Your Request Soon...

Thanks Robert. I got it and it sounds good. I need a little explanation a a few parts tho. I'll PM you in a few. I'm going to start Sunday

good shit kid!!

Thank you sir. You in fact are the one who gave me the info when I started to get a good base routine. I appreciate the help thus far.

I appreciate everyone who SERIOUSLY contributes great info, progress status and support in this thread. It helps when you have other people around trying to accomplish similar goals. Let's keep it up!

ok i got one hairraising question. i get my protien/nutrition mostly from dairy products or products that come from this family group and ive been realizing that each serving no matter if it milk, cottage cheese, protienbars, shakes etc...
there are significantly high amounts of cholesterol and my point is that im worried about my cholesterol level b/c i eat these foods more than the avarage person eats this food group. even though im 17 im worried that this will acumulate over time .BTW that hdl/ldl cholesterol is bull

^^ Go to a doctor and get your Cholesterol levels checked. Dairy products make up most of my diet. I literally drink an entire Gallon of 1% milk a day, since I can remember, and my cholesterol level is fine. Plus I eat lots of yogurt. But it depends on the body of the individual, no way to know unless you get it checked. Or if your that worried, drink lowfat milk. Whole milk is def not good for you.

I agree, we are all working for the same goal here, looking and being physically fit. Keep working hard and post your muscle gains or fat losses. :bigthumbu

even tho my legs are in great shape from all the years of skateboarding and always riding my bike everywhere when i was a little kid, i think im gonna start running on weekend mornings just to be in better shape, and have better endurance all around

as far as the whole working out thing, i havnt done too much this week, but when i do work out its for a good solid 45 minutes, and about 4 sets on the incline bench, and a mix of other things.

i do see a slight difference when i look in the mirror without flexing

right now i wanna focus on my chest, and triceps as well as forearms

i know hammer curls are good, but what can i do for triceps that wont kill my next or back?
