I have awesome luck (stripped block with banjo bolt)

Idk, if my friend was helping me and he messed up like that I wouldn't blame him or anything like that. What kind of friends would you be if you went on a rampage every time one messed up by accident. Im sure the dude feels bad and has already offered to help and stuff.

Also don't give up on the car, this is all a learning experience. Drink a couple of beers and enjoy the headaches life throws at you.

Thanks for not being a dumb prick like 80% of this forum lol. As much as it sucks, i can still drive the car. And now that i know there is a fix to this, i dont really care. I do care to an extent, but in the end hes helped me out a lot and let me do this at his house, and put up with his mom yelling at him for it. So i cant be too mad. I just know not to let him thread any bolts in my block anymore lol

And hell no i will not give up on my car. Ive told everyone in my family thats said to give up my car and get something else so i can focus on school or something that they would need to cut both my arms and legs off and drag me away from this car before i ever leave it. Ive wanted a 240 since i was 13, im 19 now, this is my second one, and even though the car is a complete turd, i love it to death.

the only question i still have, is to those who have used a helicoil on this location (theres at least one of you), were you able to do it with the engine still in the car? It looks tricky

yes. i did it with the engine still in the car.

the drillbit was too long though , so we actually cut it to make it shorter , but we didnt have to tilt the motor or anything, just dont rush it , make sure you got all the right tools/sizes.

i actually grabbed one of those foam "ear plugs" and shoved it into the oil feed hole in the block , so that no shavings would fall in , then once done i cleaned with a qtip and pulled the "earplug" out with tweezers.lol.

I tryed using 10 zip ties attached to eachother around the whole engine to keep the bolt on the block, but they melted :/

I had a similar problem in another Sr But with one of the exausth manifold Bolts stripped. and helicoil kit fixed it very well.. so.. i think thats ur best option there. GL

Thats wierd, on the very back of my head, that last stud to the exhaust manifold is broken and i was trying to figure out a way to get it out lol. Im more worried about a massive oil leak than a tiny exhaust leak though

where did you get the helicoil kit from?

I would be concerned about metal shavings getting in the oil. do you guys drop the oil pan before you do this?

nevermind. I saw the ear plug post..

Autozone, Advanced Auto, basically any auto part store, and its not that expensive. When you go there ask for a "Thread repair kit"

This is what your looking for:
