Ter-Tech Feb. 25 Drift Event

I guess I should say couple of words.

This event was design and solely set to find a driver for IRL as advertized, the person in charge of this selection is Terence Jenkins from WDC and OctaneTV. The event was therefor run to please the Television crews which by the way are the ones that will get you guys sponsored. This caused all the drivers to suffer from seat time which I truly hoped we would have had more of. But in the end this will bring more publicity to drifting which will help us and you guys to get sponsored, which in turn means more events.
The 45 min brake was so we can count the scores and top 12 was easy to select, but the rest was very difficult since none of the judges really agreed 100% who should be the drivers 13-16. But in the end the top three drivers were selected by all the judges agreeing that they would be happy and proud to Tandem drift with any one of them at IRL so mad props to Travis Deems, Chelsey Denofa and Juan Henao.
Pleasing the media and sponsors was unfortunately something that took lots of time, but we can stop that and stop inviting any possible sponsors to the competitions so drivers will get more seat time, if this is what you guys want????
So again this was NOT a practise it was a competition
and for the comment that FD gives more practise time is a LIE they get 3 runs for practise and 2 qualifiers if you dont qualifie you are OUT period.

i had a great time watchin the event....awsome day had lots of fun.....





only thing that bugged me was the music was so loud it was hard to talk to the person next to you.....and the anouncer was a complete jerk towards almost everyone driving!

Intresting that lots of the spectators came to me and said that the commentator was very good, since lots off them were there for the first time and did not know lot about drifting, but couldn't comment how he was doing since most of the time I was too busy to hear him. Only heard positive stuff this is the first I hear negative let me know what he did in your mind that was rude.

i heard him joke about ppl who had a bad run, but it all seemed to be in good humor and i figured he may know the drivers well enough to kid around, he mostly made fun of funk for losing his bumpers but hes not from SFL so who cares, lol j/k.

he did explain things pretty well as far as types of entries, differences in cars etc... he had my approval for an announcer... :bigthumbu

About the announcer...I didn't hear much, but what's wrong with making couple of jokes...we are listening your constructive critisism after every event...how about you guys getting this from someone who knows what he is talking about...and if you make a spin or eat the cone...what he is suppose to say..."nice spin", "great way to take down the cone"...

I thought the annoucer was good. I actually wanted to listen to what he was saying.
What I didnt like was the crappy music. =/

i was the One getting the cones. sorry if that bothered anybody but i Autocrossed for the last 6 years and am used to sprinting across the track to get every cone. there were huge gaps that didnt have people anywhere near them. more volunteers would have been nice. I was even doing security. my girlfriend would point out the people without wristbands and i'd kick them out.

alot of drivers did awesome but one really stuck out to me.

Noah Hunt. he wasnt perfect on every run but his entries were just what i was hoping to see when i heard about the first turn. too bad Kyle , Rick and David werent there to show you how to really do it. i have plenty more to mention but i'm hungry.

Hey man I wondered where you were. I saw you and I think your gf for a little bit in the morning and thats pretty much it. I'll have to head over there to the kart track to chill and slide more. I agree a :bigthumbu goes to Noah, its good to see a good guy get his respect.
 
yeah rob and matt commentators skillz get thumbs up from me, they beat antonio at hialeah. all the drivers were great lots of improvements, it seems like every event people get better, ter tech we appriciate all the help and mad props to terry, chels and juan and the rest of the top 16. Mickey on SOHC you rock meng...........

holy crap josh your making be blush haha . thanks for tthe positive feed back guys. i learned alot at this event and had a blast. i need more practice on those 3rd gear entries tho. drifting with eveyone there absolutly helped me try to step it up a notch and try things i havent done before. looking forward to the next event!

how was my driving

I really would like to have some one tell me if they saw one of my runs. If so let me know where i messed up or what i did right or worng all i want to know is what i need to work on to improve I was driving the sil with the red bumper half white & half gray body I would really appriceat it other then that I really liked the event thanks to every body at ter-tech...

Your entry needed alot of work, you were going pretty slow and very late entry that = understeer. You did better in the slower corners. Plus you pulling the ebrake slowed you down more. Next time, use shift lock instead.
