Thats true, good point...

So what happend about a rx7 going 90 into a wall??

He went kamikaze on initiation at waaaaay more speed than necessary and waaaay early. Ended up going right into the wall and ripping off the front right wheel. It was his second run of the day too...

Last time I was there, a car jumped the guardrail backwards and landed between the guardrail and fence. It was awesome.

He could have had a cig after he crashed, I've never seen someone NOT have a cig after crashing their car, never complained about anything....examples...

Some of the random dudes that come to CFRC and crash that I cant think of their name

Probably not, or you'd have to wear it really loose. I've worn one a couple times drag racing, it was a while ago, but I remember it being weird.

I've heard about some new ones that let you turn your head, but I don't know if they're on the market yet or not.

you may be thinking about a race collar. something similar to this maybe http://www.saferacer.com/evs-r4-race-collar.html?productid=2523
but why go into a very expensive requirement of a HANS DEVICE. the minimum requirement should at least be a neck brace. very inexpensive option for us poor sfl folks. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Product-Line/Simpson-Neck-Braces/

Idk. From the description I heard, I understood it to basically be a HANS device, but instead of the straps being fixed to the back of the brace, it was one strap that slid through a loop on the back of the brace. So you could turn your head back and forth all you want, but it would still keep your head from going forward/falling off of your body.

neck collars (the second one you linked) can also act as a pivot point providing a fulcrum for your neck to pivot/break easier on. its not rigid enough to stop movement. if you have ever felt legal cage padding, that stuff is like a rock almost, but its made for high force cushion, not our piddly hands grabbing at it.

im just saying, for national pro and pro am competition, sure hans devices should be a requirement but for local events like skidpad you cant expect people to spend that kind of money.

My point is that injury's don't care where or what level you're at in your drifting. The accident I posted was a collision at 20-30 mph.

To me its not the couple hundred $. Its the lack of vision, comfort, and one more restriction. Hans should be recommended but not required.

With a HANS device you might not hurt your neck, but you'll total your car because you can't see shit.

If you're scared

Have any of you who have commented on not being able to see anything actually used a HANS device?

They're a little uncomfortable at first but nothing you won't get used to. And you can still see using your mirrors.

If you're moving your head more than that to turn around and watch your tandem driver than your doing it wrong...................
