Drifting Tech Day: 01-13-13

You are completely nuts and unprofessional for a professional. You asked why someone would do that. I said Finkelstein use to do it why don't you ask him instead of spazzing out. But no, you insist on being a nut.

Dont act like some hero here. You didn't sincerely tell me to ask fink. You told me that trying to be a dick thinking I would be impressed and amazed that he could do that.

Get rid of your boner you have for always having some smart shit to say to me. Idk if you're like jealous or trying to make up for some kind of deficiency in your life, but it's real fucking annoying.

Nope, I really meant ask fink. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone slide on a open diff so I have no reason to argue the point. The only one I ever seen do any good with it was fink and I'm not saying he's god or you should be impressed but if you wanted the answer to your question then I felt like he would be the best one to ask that question.

I just don't agree you, I tell you why i don't and that is what annoys you.
I have no personal vendetta against you but if I hear someone say something ridiculous like you do on a regular basis I comment on it. I'm sorry if you can't take it...

But enough useless "you hate me" posts and get this back on topic!

What happens if someone can't make this one? Will you tech them at the next event?

it said that the tech for this event was to be "relaxed" but let people know that future events it would be held up (you will fail). so if you are going to fail now, or cant make it, its fine. just be ready next time you visit CFRC because there are no more 'forgiveness' passes-

and i think they mentioned they are trying to work with all venues to make the same standards across the state.

Oh cool

That would be nice and a florida registered driver database would help. Tho as far as I know no one has contacted Hachi about this but maybe I'm wrong. We have lots of info on our drivers and registered numbers for competitions. So we can spend less time doing paper work.

Agree and disagree as far as the open diff arguement. The people showing up with open diffs usually suck. They'd progress much quicker with some kind of locking or locked diff. CFRC is seems to be a track that really likes keeping their spectators happy. Watching someone ass dragging with one tire fire normally isn't the most appealing thing to watch. So why even try it?

As to the driver's side... if you're getting into drifting you should have definitely heard and or read by the time you've been to the track that an open diff just isn't the right way to go... not even to start... So why try with an open diff to begin with??

Now what I'm saying is... Open diffs shouldn't be a "Tech Requirement" but at the very least explain to the driver that their car settup sucks ass for using such a crap diff, and should definitely be changed for the next time they come out. If not they will not pass because they are wasting their's and everyone else's time.

Just my opinion.

^harder to do =/= not allowed. i guarantee that there are drivers that can do more with a n/a dual cam on open diff that a lot of others do with there "better prepped" cars.

ae86 are supposed to be harder to drift... so are older zs, mustangs, camaros... so what? you have to outlaw all "harder setups/time wasters". its their time that they paid for.

if you pay to run a test n tune at the drag strip and arent on slicks pushing 9's or lower.... your wasting a lot of time for those "more serious" drivers. BUT they let you run as long as your car doesnt pose a threat. CFRC is a track that is renting out its use to drivers as a safe venue. Why should they dictate my performance mods?

watching the track employee understeer the suburban around the course packed with several people and bouncy as the sidewalls were collapsing and rebounding.... THAT WASTES TIME.
waiting for pre-arranged judges to show up... that wastes time.
waiting for the gate to open on time... that wastes time.
waiting for someone learning, thats part of a practice day.

I love CFRC but much of the time is wasted without any drivers involvement. so much could be tightened up by the track and then the drivers would follow suit. Staff watching people tear around the end of the drag strip in burnouts, or drifts, or just going real fast.... is REALLY showing the drivers "we dont care..."

start tossing people out for the REAL problems, and allowing those there to learn, to do so.

I'm not against the track, - I love the place, wish I lived closer and I'd be there handing out every time, but its SIMPLE fixes and failing someone for a suggested mod is not needed.

why not actually have some sort of enforcement of people not 'hanging out' by staging? I literally had to drive around people walking there and then standing near the garage that have no reason to be there. if they dont want to go to the stands, they can go out of the gate.

why not have a simple poster/sign at the pit area that can change from A-B-C-D with a flip or an erase/dry marker so people can visually see what group is up and stop wondering. there is no PA in the pits and a bull horn running through for 20 seconds is rarely enough.

I am making all of these posts because I care that CFRC is successful and respected. FL only fails when we let it.

^ i agree with that 100% :bigthumbu CFRC has the best and probably is the only venue to have opportunity to become florida's first real Drift Track. Because ovals are great but not what we really want and countyline can't be built on to and won't last forever.

The future for CFRC looks bright :bigthumbu My only criticism is i'd like to see more professionalism in the organisation of the track, strict tech and pit rules and a more defined track layout(I don't mean with k-rails).

lol PBIR has potential

The track is really nice but i don't ever see it being a real Drift Track where it's main events and focus is drifting.
Plus from what i hear they(the owners) don't really care for drifting.

IMO you shouldn't tell Someone they don't pass tech because of A diff or powersteering. I ONCE drove my car with no power steering cut springs and open diff . captain Ben rode along with me and even drove the car and told me what was going on and what I should do to my car . That following event I put power steering and stock suspension still open diff and the car drove 100x better . Yes it still sucked that my diff was open but I was feeling the car out little by little . Once I finally got my welded diff it was a world of a difference but no one ever told me i failed tech or couldn't drive. Gabe in the auto BMW was killing at at skid pad . That also shouldn't fail a car from tech. Tracks offer a service like Steve o said and if someone wants to drive there dually truck at the event it shouldn't really be denied because of its out of the ordinary or stupid idea . Yes it waisted precious time but wait a few weeks there will be another event . And another after that.

Over all its good that you guys are enforcing tech rules but don't add your nonsense because "you don't get impressed" or "it's a waist of time for someone to try". It's a track where cars go out to drift and I'm sure those drivers brought spectators to watch them fail it up am being business .

Good Things.

Agreed BOX, honestly there is enough room for cfrc to have a beginners skid pad/ figure eight and a full course. Making drivers have to prove the basics before going out to the big track. A new driver trying to enter in 3rd gear and spinning out 200 times on each run only frustrates himself and isn't really helping him learn.
At countyline we always have instructors like Ben, Juan, Chris Jackson, Bert, or Myself there to hop in with drivers. Ben usually spends all night long if need be to teach the new guys the basics. Unfortunately all that we have is a skid pad. CFRC is the best venue in Fla hands down.

Oh and cut out tire side walls work great to line the track and they usually stay in place when they are runned over.

i had to learn real drifting on ovals... thats it. whole year of nothing but ovals. at cfrc its not hard to come in 2nd gear and try, you dont have to floor it in 3rd. I (and pat) give instructions everytime i can there and the few that take me up on it always ask... what gear should I be in... "whatever you are comfortable with, eventually 3rd, but 2nd for now is fine"

3 of about 20 drivers took me up on help last time i was there (black friday) to give instructions. last time i was there was for driving, but no one asked and only TWO drivers asked to ride with me- which I did. perhaps im just a scary rugged chainsaw massacre lookin motherfkker and they scurred.

I used to ask every driver in line if they wanted any help. Maybe two would want help. The two that got the help, we're usually the two best in the group. Haha.
It got to the point of me just not wanting to stand on grid all night listening to kids tell me they didn't need help.
If anyone comes and ask me for help, I will help them. I'm done standing there and waiting for nothing though. Haha.

Wow ok well that's stupid. I would love to have u guys ride with me and give advice. I know there are a lot of times Ben will tell a driver "bro ur failing it up move over" and high jack their car, but most of our drivers ask for help.
But to be honest you and Jay are scary rugged chainsaw massacre looking em-efers and im scared.:ffff:
