I'm too lazy. I want to be like Noel! Worst driver of the year!! Woot! Lol

Only reason I feel like I would need it is if I have angle mod and my wheel goes far and I have to fight to bring it back but oh well

I didn't win the award. :(

srsly.

powersteering rack without it working is dangerous as the steering is very sluggish and difficult esp at lower speed (slowing down trying to not crash). The one experience I had driving another persons car was terrible. I actually linked the section we were on and everything, but the wheel nearly ripped my arm off as we transitioned. (less than 5 min later, the owner crashed head on into a k-rail after I recommended not to drift it).

open diff or locked should not be a tech requirement. tech is about safety, not about what mods you should have. if everything is safe, let them drive, they dont waste that much time.... if the organization (run group times, gate opening on time, mandatory drivers meetings) was better, the time wasted would be next to nothing. when we stand there waiting to get in for 20-30 minutes after it was supposed to be open, thats a time waster. when a dude spins out twice while trying to learn his car, his reactions and the track, its 20-30 seconds of experience s/he desperately needs.

tech is great idea, and I've been severly disturbed at the items people have loose, flying around the car all NBD style... extra helmets, tools, jacks, etc. They don't think about that shit flying at 40mph when they hit the wall and the tool goes through their neck and they die from a bent fender/broken taillight.

typical shit is no brainer.... if you are worried about something passing tech, you're probably right that it will fail. it shouldn't be a game of "I hope this passes". itll pay off in the long run for a driver to show up with a non janky shit bucket so they can focus on driving. while I don't agree that a working ebrake or locked diff should be a requirement, I think a driver would be 10x smarter to have that shit working right.

PS**I used to drift my open diff car, and I DID FUCKING KILL IT. ;)

I think this is good

First off defiantly wasn't trying to upset any one by talking about CFRC tech, but I'm glad it sparked you to push them to make changes. Considering the amount of cars that wreck at CFRC every year I'm thankful nobody has gotten hurt by loose items.
Maybe the tech day should be more like a tech class to educate the drivers on how to set up their cars and even run them threw a fd tech so those drivers that want to get more serious will know what to expect.
Tech should be done every event it doesn't take long. And have the guys running the line check chin straps, loose items looking for wobbling wheels etc....
Pat I'm glad you stepped up at CFRC and are making the push for tech. I know if you were in charge this wouldn't have been an issue. If you need tech sheets I can send u a form. If u need anything let me know but I'm sure u got it handled.
Again it wasn't crap talking. So don't take offense you know I love you....:ghey:

Hey dudes, glad you were able to look over the rules and there are just a couple of things I want to bring up.

Drifting is a sport, just like any other sport there are just somethings necessary to play that sport well. For example, to play football, you just need a ball, but to play the sport properly you need the pads, the helmet, and everything else to play the sport properly- same goes for drifting.

At CFRC we offer a service just like any other business, and we see that we can only make that service better to our customers (both our drivers and our fans) by assuring a quality product by set standards. But don't think we are going to turn into tech Nazi's taking all of the fun out of the sport, because we are definitely not and if you've been to a CFRC event you know we just aren't like that.

If you have any other REAL concerns, you're free to message me on here or on Facebook of course, but otherwise, this is just how it's going to be. Thanks.

^Rules are good. I wish tech was more strict at 99% of the events in the state.

But not even the FORUMLA DRIFT rulebook forces anyone to have a manual trans, working ebrake, or any specific diff. Seems like you're going a little overboard on demands of what peoples cars must have. Tech is a safety requirement list, not a performance guideline. If a car is safe for the track and they paid the fee, I don't understand why you would force them to setup their car a certain way. Are we soon going to tell people they must run between 30-35psi in their tires because "its better"?, or what spring rates they must have? minimum hp requirement?

<3

The rest of the rules are spot on. Additions?:
+exhausts should be properly attached/welded (not swinging side to side from a coat hanger)
+no fluid leaks

Those rules arnt in the formula d rule book....welllll, because people are fuckinf smart enough to know they need that to drive good.

If anyone ever ask me for help, and their power steering doesn't work, I will not help them. I'll tell them it's a waste of both of our time and to get their power steering fixed. If you think you're so sick you don't need power steering on a power steering rack..... You're fucking wrong.

agreed. which is why i said before that ...

open diff can be drifted fine. you dont 'need' an ebrake to drift, and if its auto it sucks but can be drifted (alex did it plenty of times fine). this are not faulty equipment like non-working power steering, they are just factory parts that aren't optimal, but they are in working order.

dont confuse what is needed with what is recommended.

Why would you even try to drift with a fucking open diff? That's dumb. Its not cool or impressive if you struggle around the track with an open diff

Did you hear Daigo is taking his power steering pump off and running an open diff next year?! GAWWDDDDD IT'S GONNA BE SOFAKING SIK!!!!! I hope next year he takes his e-brake out cause it doesn't work very well!!!!

not a struggle.

you're getting me all wrong. I 100% agree its stupid to have it open since a welded is so cheap, but- it should not be required. they are paying their fee to drive a track-safe car. would you turn away a guy in awd who wants to try? it works, just different style?

no one said i couldnt take my parents minivan on the dragstrip running 16s.... in the 1/8th mile LOL

Do you see how fucking impressed I am?!

You are completely nuts and unprofessional for a professional. You asked why someone would do that. I said Finkelstein use to do it why don't you ask him instead of spazzing out. But no, you insist on being a nut.
