best way to remove auto; pilot bushing

THE GREASE METHOD NEEDS TO BE ENDORSED.....did not take more than 2 minutes with a 3/4 welding pipe from lowes...even tho they charge hella strong for it....

all i did was use lithium grease, packed the insides with it, put the pipe at the end of it and it fits so snugly, when i hit the other end with my palm twice, and it moved....i thought it didnt work but then i moved the bearing up and down and it came out without any much effort after that...but disclaimer shit is messy when you dont have a grease gun....

damn never noticed that you reposted i was about to ask what happend glad i could help out worked well didnt it!:bigthumbu

just want to bring this thread back because I'm down to this very same step.

got a socket stuck in there now... Bought the puller, but now the stuffed socket I was using got stuck and leaves no space for the puller [I was trying the grease method to no avail]........

any ideas?

the grease method works, i could lend u my 3/4 welding pipe but im pretty sure driving up here wouldnt be worth it....just buy one from lowes, fill the auto pilot bearing with lithium grease, place the pipe into the hole snugly, and then use blunt force to force the grease to come out the sides, a few hits should do it, and it will come out...i can't stress how easy this is...unless ur bearing is somewhat deformed somehow

thanks bro, but my local lowes didnt have it in stock and the 5 employees I spoke to didnt know wtf I was talking about, lol...

Problem was solved though, it came out when I was trying to chisel the socket that caught onto the bearing [socket was stuck inside]. It just flew out :bigthumbu
