does anyone have any technique for taking this bushing out...i've done the 5 speed swap before, and the most i've ever had to do was grind down the bearing, till it was able to be pulled out....right now im still using a vise grip on the bearing, and countering on the crank with a breaker bar....well thats wat im going to do...anyone got some advice?

find an extension that fits in it really good but not so good that you have to force it in the bushing once you do that pack the hole for the pilot bushing with thick grease like bearing grease fill it up good now the reason i said to use an extension and not a socket is becaue you need a solid piece of metal no holes the idea is once you have the grease packed in there you put your extension in and start hammering it forcing the grease to push the bushing out

do the grease method, we couldnt find a extension that fit properly so we found a socket that fit almost snugg and filled it with bondo worked like a charm, arent crapman tools great

you can just break it with a hammer and chisel if you aint a bitch

-Yea your not going to use it again so instead of making McGuiver-Status grease bearing pushers, just bust it up like a man. Seriously two good wacks with a hammer and flathead screwdriver and it's done, so why get your tools all greasy?

i tried, i damn near snapped the manual pilot bearing removiing, and believe me that shit is strong....arms are still sore..lol...i keep thinking bout the grease method i have to find a bolt or extension to do the job

i guess you must have pretty tools since you cry about getting them cover in grease rather than using a simple method that is based on hydraulics. But then again you rather fuck up your tools wacking them with a hammer

Try it you will be surprised how simple it is might be a bit harder now since you banged it all up but should still work first time i did it i was amazed

the only thing is that there is a difference between the manual pilot bearing and automatic pilot bushing, esp since its lined up with the crank end, i will try it, but i just need to make sure it will work...and yea that vid was tight, saw the same thing on extreme 4x4

THE GREASE METHOD NEEDS TO BE ENDORSED.....did not take more than 2 minutes with a 3/4 welding pipe from lowes...even tho they charge hella strong for it....

all i did was use lithium grease, packed the insides with it, put the pipe at the end of it and it fits so snugly, when i hit the other end with my palm twice, and it moved....i thought it didnt work but then i moved the bearing up and down and it came out without any much effort after that...but disclaimer shit is messy when you dont have a grease gun....
