Im pretty sure that is a noise suppressor
Automatic transmission torque converter lockup thingy. unplug it and the transmission runs full line pressure under part throttle as if you were wide open all the time.

Since were on the subject of stuff we don't know WTF it is, what is the big weight for thats bolted to the fire wall? Jackson came over one day and he said just take it off, he said he didn't know what it was for and he always takes it off

i think thats a resistor for the ignition coil?
could you explain the purpose of the resistor for the coil if that is what it is?
It controls line pressure to the automatic transmission, i forget the exact name, its on the engine performance schematic in any all data or michell on demand programs. Driver side wheel well. I had an auto, im right.
