Well you can but it’s normally not worth the hassle. The difficulty really depends on weather or not the housing is a sealed one or not and weather it has internal spider gears or not. (some do along with the discs) You dont need the gears but it makes life much easyer. Bottom line is it will cost you 2 or 3 times as much to have someone disassemble the vlsd and weld the internal components than it would to buy a regular open one and have it welded. But I still in agree with the others... save yourself the hassle and go with that.
