Motorcyclists often slow by downshifting or merely rolling off the throttle, thus not activating the brake light
this is the only thing i have seen tons of bikers (sportbikes) do that is plain stupid..
you always gotta tap the brake lights even if you dont use it.. also.. some dumb asses ride in the middle of the road while cars are doing 70mph+
I ride every day rain or shine.... WITHOUT A HELMET... and im still alive after 5 years of daily riddin. so the stadistics might be right.. but they dont count the stupidity of some riders
I knew another kid that rode for a few years no helmet no pads and never had a issue. Some would say luck.
yeah i know... i have met people that doing 20 miles fell off and ended up with a scar huge on their heads. i guess luck portrays part of it too.ur one of the lucky ones......hope u stay safe tho that rash and head trama aint no joke
the thing is that if you are gonna ride.. you gotta keep your eyes open and take 30 times more precaution than with a car.. and use the mirrors every single time.... most of the motorcycle accidents happen from behind because cars dont see you or are doing some other things... in that case you need to be checking the mirrors all day long.. also i seen many riders take the mirrors of the bike coz it looks cooler... is a costly mistake.
Seems like most people are afraid to admit it for some reason, but a lot of people on bikes drive like shit. I feel safe saying the majority of motorcyclists I encounter on the road fall into the category of driving like shit. In my experience, they tend to either drive waaay too fast or they drive like they own the road (speeding up/slowing down at will, cock blocking traffic, treating the road like a playground while IN traffic). Don't get mad if you ride a bike and you don't fall into that category - I'm glad you're not a fool. But I'm skeptical of most "innocent bike rider" accidents b/c of what i see every day. I'd be more afraid of old people than anything else around here though...I am in my car, that's for sure.
exactly there is a rule in motorcycling the 10 second rule.. check your mirrors every 10 seconds just with a quick look and it will save your life.. exactly as you said!!This is good advice for everyone. I had to take driving lessons when I was a kid and the instructor would hit the brakes if I didn't check my mirror ever 10 seconds on regular roads and every 5 seconds on the highway. It has saved me from accidents at least 2 notable times - once w/ a bike!

Also as you said many people never drove a car before .. and decides to buy one and use the cellphone while eating and driving at 50mph+
i'LL Try today..^That's true, accidents happen and Locko should wear a helmet b/c of that. >.<
