My problem with a social healthcare plan is the fact that 50% of my paycheck would go to support it even if I didnt need it yet someone else would be using my money. I worked hard for it, I should get to keep what I make without extra taxes!

My ENC1101 professor(a college professor), was talking about her trip to Italy and how her kid got injured and they went to the hospital and they didn't charge her anything. She went on to talk about how we(the U.S.) need "free health care" just like the European countries blah blah blah. I couldn't take the massive amount of shit that was spewing from her mouth, I finally got up and told her, "Health care isn't free!" , I told her, "who do you think payed for your kids medical bill? God!?, the Italian taxpayers paid for it!" OMG, I was so pissed off. Call me communist, but I don't mind paying more taxes knowing people who are in dier need of medical attention get the attention they need, but to call it "FREE!" it's not free. Even if we had universal health care, there would be people committing fraud, just like in social security and medicaid, fucking it up for the rest of us.

metaru_gia, your professor is either lying or not telling the whole story b/c Italian health care does not cover non-citizens.
 
I'm pretty sure its only a matter of time before health care becomes socialized. I wish they'd concentrate more on education though. Its too damn expensive to go to college.

I agree with you on that one, it's why i drive a car built in 1991 while all my friends drive 2005+. One day, I'll have a new car. This may sound a little conspiracy theorist, but sometimes I think college is so expensive so most of us young people will have no choice but to join the military.

well SAS i gotta agree with this on you.. im been looking for a part time job or a second full time and with college degree the best they offer is 8.50 an hour... im like... sure..i graduate from school to get 8.50 ... yep economy is a joke ..whether obama or mc cain wins.. recent college graduates are going to have a tought time getting the moneys worth....:(:(
 
I was reading an article on MSN about some chick who got a Masters of Fine Arts from some University and is now working as the manager of some Applebee's, LMAO. She can't find a job in her career, so 6+ years of busting your ass and all you got to show for it is a crappy salary and a crappy bonus every 3 month's while you slave yourself away. It's not even about picking a Major you have interest in anymore, it's about picking a Major that will bring you plenty of money, even if you hate it.
 
^Agreed on the fact that going to college cost way to much and it just sucks. Why is it that if a person wants to make a better life for themselves they gotta pay thousands of dollars to do it, putting themselves in debt with no credit well before the age of 25. My other gripe is activists professors but that is another story. The whole education system needs a complete makeover from the bottom up. High schools dont even prepare youth today for college. At the age of 18 yrs of age do you honestly think you are ready to go into 100,000 in debt after 4yrs of college and think that you are automatically gonna get a job paying 50k or better, I think not. Colleges are out of control as far as I am concerned with how much it cost to better yourself. As far as classes why cant it be straight to your study field. I understand that you need to know how to write and type at the professional business level but why waste 4yrs of college doing that when HS should have covered that so you could get the experience required to get a job right out of college without having to be entry level. I understand that is what internships are for but you could do that from the get go once you start college.

Yeah that or raise the middle class income some how. If the middle class or lower middle class made more money they might might spend it on health insurance and other necessities and not gold and flashy designer clothes.

I have health care so I am good for now :D now if we could get socialized dental :D

She got a fine arts degree! WTF did she expect? They dont call them starving artist for nothing.

I dont see why someone with a high school diploma shouldnt be able to get a decent job.

If college was free then the market would be even more oversaturated with over qualified applicants so that would just bring you back to square one, but with less debt, you still wouldnt be able to get a job and if you did it would still be shitty paying. Your pay isnt necessarily based on what your worth but how little someone can get away with paying you. Paying workers as little as possible is good business.

^Thats just wrong and you should be ashamed of that. I had a family member who had a kid like that and she died due to complications later in life, she was 12yrs old.I'm not offended, just don't make fun of someones hardship.
