See you guys at Ultra

I mentioned it in the thread regarding electronic music, but I guess it died. :p I just wanted to let everyone know that my friend is gonna throw down some tracks I've made for Ultra which will be highlighted by a singer that we're working with. Things are going well and I'm hoping you guys will enjoy it when the day comes. I'm really hyped because up until now I've been tooling with electronic music (namely breakbeats and drum & bass) as a hobby and now all of a sudden my stuff's gonna be exposed at Ultra this year. Guess I'll really find out how my stuff holds up! I'm hoping to see some of you guys there and hoping for the best for myself and my two newfound partners.

I have a proile for my music on myspace. The music I have uploaded isn't exactly up to par with my current projects; expect it to be updated within a day or two.

I've never heard of any drum and bass that could be considered "trancy", in my opinion, the styles couldn't be further apart -- but otherwise check out my myspace profile, I did mention I have samples of my music there.

Dj 2Sweet . Don't be surprised if you haven't heard of her, she's local but apparently making good progress. If anything, I should thank her because she asked me to work with her. But as far as whether you'll see us at other conference parties -- well, we'll have to see how this turns out first. :D

I'll edit this post just as soon as I update my myspace profile with my current projects for those who are skeptical / curious.

No; I'll keep that in mind, and DJ Rap is a breaks dj, she's done a little d&b... though I don't think I mentioned anything about DJ Rap in this thread.

Hey man, good luck with everything. I just sampled some of the music on your myspace... pretty good. Break a leg! and if the people over there at ultra dont like it you can casually drive up to then and pull the ebrake... ~thinks for a second~ HA! Ive developed a new sport! Automotive Base Ball! :D

lmao, thanks man. But just like soccer is known as football in Europe, we need a name for this sport to be called internationally... perhaps.... "vehicular manslaughter"! Yeayuh! :D

Really though, thanks; give me a day or two and I'll have lsome new d&b and breaks on there. And yea, whether the crowd likes it or not (I mean, with artists like Paul Van Dyk and Prodigy, I wouldn't blame them) this is still a dream come true --- for my music to be heard by the masses. If anything, it'll be one hell of an experience, thats for sure.

The scene always had drum and bass. You just usually had to look for it in that dark, smelly room in the back (or underneath) the party.

There is faggy ambient D&B out there. Trancey too. Even LTJ Bukem mixes have that crap in them.

Getting your music played at a party is an excellent way to find out just how good it is...especially if the party is dull. If people start bobbing their heads or otherwise reacting to your tunes when 5mins before they were ready to leave, you know you've got something good. Works the other way around too. And I wouldn't call it exposure either since nobody knows what they are listening to and rarely care to find out. If you want exposure, get some WMC tickets and hand out as many demos as you can. Take demos with you and after becoming friendly with other DJ's, hand em what you've made.

yo illphantasm ill be down in miami for ultra got my plant tickets booked and already have my ultra tickets in hand...so hell yea. If your going i dont mind meeting you there.

Amen. My interest in music isnt necessarily a priority, but I think this is pretty much gonna decide whether I'm going to pursue it as a career (alternative) or not, depending on the outcome of it all. I'm not too worried about record deals right now, honestly, I just wanna see what happens from here to decide whether to take my music somewhere. I do have connections, though.

Yea, now that i recall, there was an LTJ Bukem mix I returned a day after buying it. It was this mellow crap. Horrible. "Mellow Side of Drum & Bass", I think it was called. I did not like it. At all. Such a waste of 160+ bpm. :p

I'll have an eye out for you bro, I hope I see you there! I hope we leave a good impression on the crowd. We'll just have to see.

Either way, however this goes, I'll still be making tracks, I find so much creativity to express in droppin' beats. This is gonna be the reality check I've been waiting for, so to speak. :D

Yea I just recently bought a cd about last week when me and chubbs went to NY and when I was listening to it I was a bit like wtf. I buy drum n bass for the hardcore fast hitting base...if I want slow stuff ill go buy ambient which I rarely ever do...but yea it does exist and I am not a big fan of it. :(

gotcha, though my performance is gonna be of the breakbeat variety, but still, I'll keep an eye out for you and anyone else I can recognize :)

okay about the "drum and bass has always been around" how old are you. i've been clubbing in the dark back rooms since 93. d n b hit hard in the US a few years later. and the DJ rap who's that was a joke ive seen her spin D n B and didnt even know who she was cause D n B so new to us at the time. i remember when underground was underground. no tickets. no id's. no age limit. drugs drugs and more drugs. and so much ****ing love. i really truly miss those days and the only vibe that come close ive only found outside of the US.

''okay about the "drum and bass has always been around"
Ultra is over rated
it sucks that it has gotten worse over the years..

I'm not trying to make any kind of statement or opinion, excuse me if I did; but I just wanted to share my excitement that this is the first time my music will be played in front of any crowd. I personally feel its a big thing for me because as I've said, this is gonna pretty much be a day of reckoning for me. Hopefully it's a "decent" day of reckoning.

Do yo thang brotha. Make dem moves.
Most def, thanks man.
