Oil pump Engine Build

Should I get a new oil pump

So Im rebuilding my 97 KA24DE and some people told me I should get a new oil pump, the cheapest I found a new one is 206 from NAPA. Now is it really worth swapping?? I had good oil pressure before building the engine and I've been told KA oil pumps never go. Should I dish out the 200 for it?
 
Lol if your cheaping out on a oil pump i don't even what to know whats going on with your motor!!

why would you spend money rebuilding your KA if your running an old oil pump? Imagine all your internals frying because of $203.00?? I suggest you change it sir. It will make you sleep better at night I promise that.
 
wow i wasnt thinking about this... but yea my bois oilpump just went out today, wat part number are u looking at for 203?

I used my pump over again like 3 times.. Never gave me a problem.. On boost too... I dunno just letting you know.

Lol and no the other motors didn't have knock lol.
 
I know your spending a crapload of money on your engine, even if the pump was fine and you would never run into an issue change it just to sleep better at night
 
u should do it i ran into da same problem an built my whole motor an when i went to crank it no oil pressure so then i had to change it go on ebay thats where i got mine an it works alsome so do it ,,,, its better now then later

buy a new oil pump on ebay
i had two oil pumps go out on me on two different ka's

stop being a cheap ass, buy the damn thing.

On second thought, dont get a new one. Reuse your old one and when it does go out on you and blow your motor, make sure to never mention it to anyone on here other wise you will just get flamed to hell because everyone is trying to help you out
 
well for me it do it while its out it is alot easier to replace and if you put it in and it goes you just gonna wish you did it before

well i just got a random ass gift card at work today so i think ima go buy one tomorrow. and I dont know if i should depend on an ebay oil pump so ill just get one from Napa. which is the cheapest yet..anyone know of a place cheaper hook it up!
 
take apart your oil pump and measure all the clearances as per FSM. if it is all in spec then keep it.

dont listen to the fucking idiots that tell you otherwise. why replace a part is it still good. i know plenty of people that do it for "piece of mind." it only works if you have a ton of money and nothing else to blow it on.

that kind of mentality will never pass on the racing world especially these days. everyone is on a tight budget and random part replacement just because "i need to do it since everything else is new" is dumb.

i suggest you add an option to the poll of "inspect origin parts first and decide from there"
