Mazda Miata Questions.. Newb here

just get a torsen if it doesnt already have one. it is def a tight rear end... no pun intended

^lol.
torsen's are expensive if you need an lsd grab the clutch type from the s4 rx-7 from the junkyard and swap it into the pumpkin but you have to have the 94+ rear end already. nice thing about it is you can rebuild them and tighten them up real nice, not unlike the two way lsd's that you see for $1000 bucks. its also stronger than the torsen.

hmmm... would you recomend a swap for me? you say its stronger... will i blow mine with clutch kicks if i stay under 200whp?

i said that if he didnt already have a torsen that it be best to get the clutch type. so no i wouldnt necessarily recommend one for you. torsens sell for $400+ bucks, the clutch type i got was for $80. also in principle the clutch type will be easier to break grip with, thats why i prefer it over the torsen.

ps. if you took offense with my lol at your post it was at the pun not your statement.

thanks for the info. good to know i have that to fall back on if this one goes

but beware, its in the 86-89 s4 non-base models only. s5 got viscous. one way to tell between s4 and s5 is s4 side moldings were black and s5 were color matched with the rest of the car. also dont forget to check both wheels spin in the same direction.

I remember the first time i drove a miata. it was my buddies GFs miata and they were moving so i drove the miata over to their new place and i INSTANTLY fell in love with the car. Im 6'2 and i fit perfect in a miata although i am very slim at 155 pounds.

do you have any idea what power those rear ends will hold?

i cant be sure for the torsens, i think i read it on turbomiata. they should hold to 250whp so you'll be safe. it was people that wanted to drag their miatas that were running into problems. as for the clutch type well your probably safe till 500hp lol.

i feel like i will be less stressful on my clutch with more power. my clutch kicks are a bounce rev lim fullthrottle then let it pop up as quick as the spring will pull the pedal up

after a little time at the skid pad it starts to slip... nothing major though
