I was asking about an SR engine swap and everybody kept saying to stick with a KA and others to switch to SR.

So KA or SR? - non turbo

thoughts?

on drifting performance, maintenance, daily use, etc....

please indulge me with your knowledge

yeah i heard that one already...

but different people have different opinions and different points to make

I wanna know for personal experiences

and besides I'm not a car freak......yet, so I don't know much

Wht the FUCK would you go through the effort for an na sr. Just leave it alone...If you want na go ls1... :ugh: . BTW, there is no definate answer to your question...

that's why I want to know about personal experiences

and again, I don't know much about cars, i'm just starting out

Get a NA Sr20 with high ass compression advance the timing also a 150 shot of spray all day...

dont listen to this guy

if you arnt going to buy a Turbo engine, stick with the motor you already have which would be the KA. spend you money on making the car reliable and on suspension. Because as already stated you are gonna spend alot on an N/A SR swap for the same powerlevel and a crappier powerband.

If your gonna do a swap make it worth while as in your gonna have an increase in power and the potential to make alot more down the road. A CA18DET is only 20 more hp than a KA but with a few little goodies(SR T25g, intake, 2.5" exhaust, intercooler, safc) in with the swap can make alot more power(around 210rwhp) thats a good example

but if you did an NA/SR swap there would be alot more involved in making anywhere near those numbers unless you turbocharged it where as then you are gonna worry about the reliablity of the engine all the time just like owning an turbo KA

much appreciated

well the car I might b getting already has an NA SR , is that harder to maintain than a KA

is more underpowered?!! cause I thought it was the other way around

I just heard that the KA has more torque

i did and I couldn't find anything, all I found was engine details that mean nothing to me
I wanna know about real facts from real people
that's why I'm hear asking you the actual drifters

if you know of any site please indulge me!!

well.... if you are drifting , you dont NEed an sr, look at dudocius, suaknee, beat the hell outta their ka, and put up good smoke. work more on learning how to drive the car as is then upgrade as necessary

would it be a disadvantage to use an sr for drifting? or would I be just fine?

There are small power characteristics that are advantageous with a ka, but the increased power output from a turbo sr over a na ka is alot easier to drift.

Look back a few pages and you will find about 3 threads that are at least 10 pages long with peoples opinion and few experiences about whether to turbo a ka or sr20.

but that is the overall turbo ka vs. sr debate not really focusing on whether you CAN drift well with a KA. sr give the power a lot easier and people who started drifting ka and then moved to sr like estie had an easier transition than someone who started sr right from the jump or who had ka did a little bit of drifting and then jumped to sr cuz they were just power hungry. like i said ask dudocius or suaknee or many naka people on here like sergio who drift and see what they tell. yea they wanna upgrade to sr but its not the end of the world if you dont. you'll get there
