shouldnt have to buy pistons until you wanna see serious hp anyway... lol, so thats an irrelevant comparison! and you can autozone anything on these motors! they are in so many cars you can easily same day anything!

and have fun changing a starter on a one 1uz, and cams and tuning are cheap not. Ls based way better. 5.3 truck moors all day less than $500.

not saying you should use the ka/sr tranny but im saying it can be done for the extra budget build... im debating this or rb25 right now... i can do this sooo cheap!

so the 5.3's are still ls1's just with different heads im guessing?
and are they still all aluminum and all that jazz?


i know if you put 5.3 heads on the 5.7 it bumps up the compression and with a decent cam and exhaust you can push over 400 n/a.
 
sooo like brett (driver in the vids) makes the swap kit and all that. its wayyyyyyyy cheaper than LS1- which is more like $8,000 if you have to buy everything/cant make things.

the 1uz felt strong in bretts car at pbir to me, i dont see anything wrong with it. but in the end, there is much more support for the ls1 but you have to ask yourself how big of a build are you going to do? do you want 450hp n/a or are you ok with like 300ish? if you dont need huge numbers, then go 1uz?

1uz is awesome if you want the sound of a sweet v8 without the performance. Watching Brett clutchkick to keep 3rd gear spinning on junk used tires sucks. I'd rather have a stock sr and a boost controller.

are the 5.3 ls's the same thing minus the extra .4 liters?
still alum block, light, make power easy, etc. cause id rather do that if it saves me monies
 
Like you could make a 1uz sweet with a turbo or supercharger, engine management, and a bunch of other expensive crap, but you can make about any engine sweet with that stuff.
