How do you pay to fix up your car?

I do most my car stuff myself. Dan, Vince and Rick help me once in a while, in a way we help each other with mechanical stuff (hit n run garage). I work at a Law firm, i am a records manager, and Office services manager, decent job. But I have been living by myself since i was 17 so the 30K i make a year now are pretty much worthless, As of now i am attending ATI to get my ASE cert, so I could go back to St. Thomas U. and get my minor in History and my Mayor in Art history. One thing i will say to you all stay in school, is the only thing that warrantees a future.

yeah $25/hr is not "fairly Well" thats false advertising!! lol unless u only work like 2 hours a week n shyt

No, it's really not all that much considering I work at a school and don't get paid for the gazillion vacations, half days, and days off. Summer time really kills me b/c the hour are cut in half but this summer I'm getting a 2nd job.

I hate how we need a certificate or degree to show that we know what we are doing. All of us fix on our cars and its to bad we cant get recognition from people other than fellow car-fixer-upper-friends. We all have our lil car group names, its to bad we all cant unite and start one big car club and invest all of our money into one big shop and use all our talents to get nationally recognized.

atm I am at Advance Auto Parts making **** for money as a Commercial Parts Pro on weekends and cashier on the weekdays. I'm going to be working at my step-father's shop most likely within the next few months if I ever quit this job heh. but 10/hr Flat rate at the shop.

Well...It's like what every one here main point is.....Dont do anything stupid like drifting in an area where you know you can mess up your car, dont waste money on pointless things like Mcd's, bk, and ricer stuff... You can go home and eat, and only buy things for your car when it is really needed.....Most of our money goes on fast food stuff and things that we dont need ofr our cars at the time....for instance i want do upgrade to a short shifter, bushings, and clutch but why should i do that now if all these parts are good, i'll just go out and buy them when they go bad instead of buying them now.....I am a asistant manager at pep boys and its a store that tease alot to be buying things for our cars but i keep myself from doing that and buying fast food......I save up my money so when something does go bad on my car i dont have to worry about money becuase i should have enough money to fix the problem but on a side note i am saving up so when i blow my KA i can get a SR20....If you or any one else here does need anything for their cars and at a real good price give me a call and i'll tell you if i have it and for how much or if i have to order it.....305-557-4498 - Adrian

it's preventive maintance, if you wait for something to break, it can affect more parts and end up costing more. I buy upgrade parts but don't install them right away, but I don't push it off forever because that's when other **** starts happening to the car. but that's just my opinion and I'm a n00b so don't listen to me :(

i work at sears as well, but i am a Tech one so i just install tires and batteries and pays 5.50/hr + commission. every two weeks i make about $600-$650 and thats chillin. i can obviously work harder and make more. i live at home and do most of my own work so my car spendings are minimal. i like to spend more money going out with friends and traveling.

Uhh I work at aamco transmissions in Kissimmee and I get paid like $8 yeah I know it sucks but I get sundays off always and I only have to work a MAX of 25 hours a week just so I can keep my head on straight while I am going to UTI (6AM-12:15PM 5days a week) i don't really make that much money but its enough to pay for my rent ($200 a month) and food and gas stuffs. My dad helps me out with my car insurence. Any small amount of money left over goes to the new s12 and im happy to say it will be ready for sunday if everybody ends up regging for it.

and well if sunday doesnt happen well then I'll have money to get some new hankook ventus RS-2's for the front :) so its kinda win win here

I work at the Sears Auto Center @ the Coral Springs Mall making $5.50 an hour plus commission doing Tires and Batteries. It might not seem like much but when you average it out, it's $10-$12 an hour plus tips. I just became certified as a Tech II so I can now do suspension, alignments, and alternator/starter install. Now I'll be able to make closer to $15-$19 an hour plus tips. My car has never been to a shop. I've been doing all of the work on my car. Just me and my friends in my garage. I just finished my first year at BCC studying Civil Engineering. I got school payed for for my first 2 years so I'm straight with that because I did good in high school I guess. Soon I will have to get a storage aread or a shop to do my work because my dad doesn't want me to be doing any major work at home.

Oh yeah and I'm Trini so you know we be gettin da hook ups. :D

LOW FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES

my advice, learn a trade..pick something that you wont be out of work next time a hurricane hits. i was doing marble work for a while, then after the hurricane i made $6k cash in 2 weeks driving around chainsawing up trees for ppl, and that was after working all day making $200 a day running a bobcat for that month. now im booked solid doing fencing. there is always trade-work and always good money in it.

well I used to work with some guys out of miami bay called the diaz brothers and they hooked me up with some guys that worked at a colombian import/export place. $1000 investment and 3 months later I had $2mil in cash and a mansion on the beach. m4nny and dan are frequent invites to many of my sexy parties...

then I moved to connecticut...and had to get a real job working for an insurance company making $14.hr.

I work at the Dadeland Marriott Valet drifting cars......sorry I mean valet parking cars.... :D

I make about 6.15 an Hour +tips. I can average about $15-$16 dollars an hour (1G a month) not doing anything , just parking/drifitng/messing around cars....and hanging out with buddies at work.

and how many of you can say that you've gotten everything sidewayz from a Porsche 911 Turbo, to a Rolls Royce?

P.S. dont ever Valet Park Your Car.

and we are hiring for part time.
