my way to do it is to 1. take out the spark plug #1 2. put a screwdriver in the hole (or anything that fits in the hole and it's long) 3. rotate the motor until the screw driver is all the way up 4. place the distributor cap pointing to cylinder #1 5. put everything back and try it. if it doesn't work, instead of the screwdriver just place your hand on top of cylinder one until you feel the pressure stop pushing and then put the distributor to pointing to cylinder #1. this is how I did it with mine. good luck!!
1st, spin motor over to TDC (2nd mark clockwise)
take off oil fill cap, make sure exhaust cam is pointing toward the outside of the car
take dist cap off
put dist in like this (the plastic "fin" above the rotor pad will like up with a "fin" on the dist)
You can see the fins in this picture, the plug of course goes to the front.
put the cap back on
wires go 1-2
3-4
Turn it over, if it doesnt start its not your timing. Check your fuel lines to make sure they are on right(fuel filter goes to front tube.)
If that's not it, then you might have left something unplugged.
