Florida Drift Points Series

being judged at an event is so much for fun because it gives you information on how other's see you drifting....cause you damn well know it that everytime you think you had a baller run, well someone else can disagree. All im saying is for this idea to work, you guys have to understand that their will always be hard feelings and you can't do anything about it, their is someone out there that is always better than you are.....so that should make you motivated to achieve better driving skills.

Making a florida series with no points and no winings....then what? its another practice event. Make some sense people!

Points series = win. All I am gonna say.

See like Noel, he is all up for it!

its almost like seeing your own drifting at a different point of view, which in my opinion is a great tool to better your drifting

but i think there should be more judges and also judges should try not to be drifters because if they are then they will have to judge and loose drifting time .. :p spectators or photographers will be the best :D!! "as long as they have basic knowledge of points.."

if it does happen i am out... i dont have money for a cage, i dont even have money to buy new tires.... so i guess i will keep on practicing and no comps for me...lol

who said you need a cage?? and new tires Robert?? I am sliding on used tires this weekend cause i have no money for new....

That honestly my friend is a lame excuse.....MSC does not require a cage to tandem...and we don't have to do that either. You come out and play, don't matter what you got!

And as far as insurance being so stricted, I don't understand how they would find out if we were doing stuff that we aren't suppose to do. Do they have a rep at each event hiding out in the bushes watching us drift?? I don't think so, we just follow their guidelines because they want us to!

This isnt Japan. US has many freedom rules that allow insurance companies to rail us a new one for safety.

Ask Harri. He got his insurance at the fairgrounds cancelled because their insurance company saw a picture of the event online where a single spectator was sitting on the concrete barriers with his legs facing the track-side.

Oh, and my e30 recently got dropped from State Farm Insurance because I don't know how they found through some source that my name/car was used on the track. Fun times.

I disagree times 5 million. We need knowledgeable judges that know more than just "the basics", not just some spectators or photographers who think they know something about drifing. It would turn into complete chaos "well.... I think he had good angle.. ummm 100?" Im sure everyone here will agree with me.

like erick said, for it to be a good series the advance driver are going to be required to have a cage and meet sefaty requirements. Not all tracks are like countyline, who allows tandem w/out cages... you will need a cage for moroso, homestead.. etc..

i was reading the nopi thread and how that went down the pooper, and i noticed alot of the guys were saying to put together a points series for florida. i know there may be certain things that i dont know about but the idea is not bad and i personally think could work. there are alot of drivers down here that would be willing to participate. it could be a cooperation effort between like Ter-Tech, Drift Sessions, Desoto Drift, OSW, and like Fara.

there are available tracks
-Countyline
-Homestead
-Desoto
-Orlando Speed World
-Moroso (when completed)

The Series could span over a couple months with maybe like 8-10 events.
and maybe 3 classes just to accumulate more drivers

-Beginner (Basic Tech) Solo Runs
-Intermediate(Basic Tech) Solo Runs
-Advanced(Cage, Suits, Window Nets) Tandem Battles

Drivers Would have to qualify and get put into classes. and at the end of the season, drivers can get bumped up based on performance

And as a whole we vote in judges. they award points and at the end of the season we hold a awards thing and top 3 in each catergory get a trophy like guille and rod said

Event cost for those who want to participate would naturally cost more (like 10-15bux). but i think it would get everyone pumped and alot of guys would participate. and it could grow to something big and attract sponsors and ultimatly more drivers.

just an idea

Wonder if the Honda Grand Prix would allow something?

Yea I know its just a DEMO, but for say the ones that are in the Demo *Advanced* Would get extra points maybe?

Or better yet the ones that have lets say 1st place/2nd place in points get to drift on the Grand Prix Track?:bigthumbu

Yes. If you let people know they are being judged. Then the fun stops, they'll try to outdo themselves.

I think we should follow MSC's example.

I might be speaking for myself, I do get serious wen competing but I like the fact that I'm busting my ass for something, and yes I do have fun at comps, both my Nopi event I had a blast and it was more of a learning experiense than anything.

on another hand if u dont tell me that it will be a comp I might not prepare my self properly, like I might just bring crappy tires or I might go there to test and tune thinking its just a practice. I used to like the FDA events we used to have back in the day. and I got cash and kool parts wich were very helpful wen inproving my car for better drift.

in the end we all want it, we all have a great idea to make it work... but its far from easy... go ask the guys at Ter-Tech, Drift Sessions, Desoto, OSW, etc... $$$ bcking is not easy and if u dont get any backing the the drivers pay lots more and lets face it we dont have much money these day to spare extra charges.
I'm all for a point series but is far from now and just saying we need one aint going to make it work or happen.

Rob Fleming told me the other day that it would be cool to have a N. Florida vs S. Florida and I think if we all get together North, Central and South we can come up with a better solution and also posible sponsors to lighten the expense of such events.
I'm here to help in anyway I can the organisation who want to jump and tackle this matter.
