Florida Drift Points Series

I was called "South Florida Sideways" and it happened in 2005. It was points and prizes awarded. It was run by FDA (florida drift association) which was basically Ter-Tech and lots of helpers.

I would really like to see another attempt at it. Harri is way too busy these days, but there's plenty of other people to make it happen. I personally think it should be well organized and that everyone who works the events should be properly compensated.

If enough people are willing to get on board, I would work to make it happen.

This thread is funny because everyone has their own idea of what a "points series" is.

It definetly has to be something simple, and no qualifying runs. A person should be judged on their performance during a certain time of the day. The whole point is that this can be done at any practice event.

If you are going to make a competition, you're going to push a lot of the newcomers away and that will quickly end up nowhere.

You guys are taking this too far. Its not gonna be a competition just show up to the normal events. Drive your heart out and know that 3 judges will be looking @ everyone all day. Then award points for overall of the day. Or we could do like sickest entry @ county line gets a genki style shirt some sticks etc etc. You guys are making this wayyyy to big. Its suppose to be local and just for shits and giggles.

im new to the scene but i think something little like this would be bad ass and if i can get my car ready and get enough seat time i would def. be down

I say we have it at every event for points.
+5points- sick angle
+10points- nail your competitor in the door
+15points- Hit a Spectator
+20points- Kill a Spectator
+50points- Do all of the above in one run.

you forgot total your car :bigthumbu:bigthumbu

i agree with both guillermo and erick... its bad enough getting people to events... all we get is excuses... you dont tell them that you are judging them, and at the end of the day you brake out the news.. A point series can also be worked out for the advance guys, with roll cages etc...

If we can make that happen I will be there everytime.

Yes. If you let people know they are being judged. Then the fun stops, they'll try to outdo themselves.

I think we should follow MSC's example.

i thought the point was just for fun ...and also let people push themsleves to get better:D

If you tell people they are being judged the fun stops? I disagree. That just adds to the fun. If you over do yourself thats your own problem.

ALL OF YOU GUYS NEED TO CHANGE YOUR THINKING METHODS!!!!

why do you think all states think Florida Fails

Let's start a Florida series with points and everyone can compete, you fail, go to practice events and get much better! This is how it gotta work

I don't drift, but I'm down to help out.
If I get my car running properly sometime this century, maybe i'll give it a try.
