first tattoo advice?

considering getting my first tattoo. dont want anything run of the mill though, i want something that means alot to me and wont change with the time. about how much do custom designs cost as compared to common ones? any advice on where to get it? I'm a total n00b at this, but want to learn all i can before i make the jump
 
Depends on how big it is.
the best advice I can give you, is to go into different shops, and talk to the tattoo artists themselves.
Most will free hand sketch you something, and will work with you to achieve what you want.
 
Mine was $200 and its custom. I thought about getting the dragon I got for 3 years... after looking at teh image every day for so long and I still loved it I devided that I would love it for life... another thing to consider before deciding on a design is location and size desired.

where did you get yours? i was thinking upper back on my shoulder...but idk. dont want anything too obvious, but dont want to make it microscopically small either

i'm thinking something with a space/astronomy theme since its a passion of mine, but dont want some fagget sun, moon, or star
 
mine is on my left shoulderblade... its pretty big, the wingspan is from my spine to about an inch away from my arm. only way for you to see more than just teh wingtip is if I have no shirt on, undershirts cover the whole dragon I love it... I'll show you next time I see you.

LOL my brother did that :laugh: when my dad saw it he was like o i see you tattooed your name so u wont forget it how smart :rolleyes: :laugh: :laugh: i laughed when i heard that because its the same shit i was thinking i was like damn i kno u smoketed the ganja but does it fuck up your memory that bad that you got to tattoo your name on the whole backside of your arm :laugh: im sure he only did it because of that song "tatted up" and because it was free plus his friends wer prolly there egging him on to do it w/e hes 16 BTW so we'll see how he feels about it 10 years from not. :bigthumbu

Tattoo expo is this weekend I think. You should go, The best advice is find someone with a tattoo you like and ask that person where he got it. Dont get a small tattoo, looks weird to me, like a birth mark.

i just got my first one last night on my left sholder blade, me and my girl and my sis got it done by a guy named jim at color fast studios 2 on university and royal palm, really good work! i think it says body pearcings outside or something like that

i have always wanted archeangel wings on my back almost like there coming out of my back, with an outline of my spine <thats going to hurt like a bitch. but i just dont know if its really girlish? i mean the highest angels are all men, thats why i want a archangel wings. i also dont know if its still going to look nice 10 year down the road. EVERYONE that i have talked to said tattoos are very addicting! i like the hole flames on the arms thing but again trying tog et a job will be abitch. the only thing thats keeping me away from getting one is will i really want it 5 or even 10 years down the road? i dont want to get somthing that i may regret later in my life.

now another tatoo i wanted was a cross of two pistons with rods with a checker board background and on the other leg a spark plug with a mean looking face with bolts and screws around the electrode with the electrode firing arching on each bolt.

I've always wanted 1/4 sleeves on my left arm, that would be sooo sick.

my first tat is on my wrist i got it about 4 months ago...its my sisters name...the reason behind it is because she is the only girl in my immediate family and it was a miracle...my second i just got recently on my left shoulder blade of a heart with a sword through it with my mom and grandmother in it, it was freehanded on me...will post pics later...i recommend tattoo and co on 95 and bird talk to a guy named fieto...hes cool as hell and has good ass artwork...just remember get something that you wont regret remember you are stuck with it the rest of your life....sorry for the long story
 
from what a lot of friends tell me that get lots of tattoo done, artists hate doing drawings off the walls, they consider it an insult

so go custom!

all i can tell you man, draw your own shit, i designed mine.
be original, do something that shows yourself.

mine, i did an atom, everything in the universe is made up of millions of atoms, so basically what i have on my arm, is everything that has ever and still does exist to this day and as long as this universe lasts.

i like it.

dont get a tattoo someone else makes, or one you see in a shop. be original and nothing less.

and be careful where you put it, if its your first get it somewhere simple like your arm, or leg.

my friend was dumb enough to get a huge clover on his ribs and tears ran down his face for 3 hours straight.

but yeah man stick to the point, stay original. get something that explains YOU, not the person who drew it.
