FARA June 20th feedback thread

why does it get so wild and complicated?

- it seems simple to me, the drives agree on course layout, go on track and do their thing with whoever they want to drive with for how ever long, then go home.

- once home, the drivers should go online and talk about how awesome they are and how sweet the demo was.

the end.

all the drivers are legit and already know how to drive right? let them put on a show.

this is getting crazy.

it's because people feel the need to defend themselves and make excuses for their performance instead of just taking what said as advice for improvement lol

^^ and that goes for drivers and event organizers

shit took me over an hour to type.

// cliff notes at end

ok first my take on the event:

The track was really fun and felt like I was driving pretty sweet for never having been on it. I went into my first run not even knowing what the hell the turn really looked like and I was really happy with how I did. After all my runs I think I had 2 meh ones (dropped front wheel over rumble, and one other where my lack of experience with ls1/t-56 speed/gearing/rev limit made me feel out of sync as I banged limiter and my heart stopped- im still terrified to break another LS. but i never spun and never totally straightened (one lazy transition on the rev-bouncing run though). I even almost hit bill and estie when following :D

As for showing up on time, I felt terrible I didn't make it at 10, I left my house at 5:30 and with fuel stop and driving at what gets me the best gas mileage- i entered the track, parked and ran to the drivers meeting and it was 11:01. I felt like a jerk. I only even got 4 hours of sleep since I worked/drove at FAM the day before from 7:30am till 5:00p.m. (got to bed after midnight after getting home, repacking gear and cleaning up/eating). Still, no excuse for me being late, I apologize to Moe and the drivers who got there earlier like we were asked.

I already knew we were only getting 1 hour of time.
I already knew I was going to drive 10 hours (there an back) just for 1 hour.
I already knew that I was going to spend about $150 in gas for just 1 hour.
I understand (as everyone else should) that if shit breaks or someone crashes, we lose part of our time slot. Its how it works when there is a larger schedule you are part of. While drivers are all bashing Abe for this or that or whatever... yea it sucks we lost time but REALLY? Its not like he wanted to break some shit, and i hope his car is alright/little damage. Now if it was blatant stupidity, yea he should be talked to but if its just bad luck, get off his back, and sorry you had trouble Abe.

As far as how the event ran. I was VERY confused on what hop lapping meant (since I thought we were supposed to follow whole track lol), I had to get it cleared up by Moe. Then we went out and on solo runs, we did the line at both ends instead of the hot lapping, so I once again was confused. Then we did the hotlap/cone turn style with tandem; confused again. We started to line up in pairs, and got told who to drive with, which kinda sucked yea. I dont have a problem driving with anyone, sure there are some I'd feel more comfy with and get closer too, but I dont care in the end. We as drivers, if we are honest with ourselves and with others, KNOW WHO WE ARE SIMILAR IN SKILL WITH, and can line up accordingly. Its no offense to those who I or someone else feels less confident with, we respect that you are getting to where we want you to be, but we also want to have fun and get close to people we know can hold a solid/consistent line. Respect to all drivers out there, and I want to run with everyone. I dont care who follows me, I hope I can teach you something or you can show me where I'm slower and I need to do better (im not the best, i know it, i learned a few things this weekend even). So let us choose our partners and itll be less stress, more fun for us, more runs, more fun for fans to see more drifting.

as far as the meetings went. I didnt have a problem with anything. Moe is new to it and its hard to stand infront of people, ESPECIALLY WHEN you know they are going to criticize you if you fumble. RE-FUCKING-LAX on Moe's downfalls. Dude is doing great I think. There are some little things in the meeting that were not directly related to the single event we were doing but if you OPEN YOUR EARS AND MIND you'd get the points that he is trying to expand you/us as drivers and show us a bigger picture and how its the LITTLE THINGS that are going to make this work or crumble. If you don't care about all that then just sit there and think of how awesome your going to drive and let him talk. Some of you guys are so foolish and feel like shit is OWED to you... its a FREE SESSION, on a REAL road course and its within 45min for most all of you. I'm not going to speak for ALL of the SFL, but Pat and I were a little bummed from the shorter session, but not pissed at the track time and we drove more than the rest of you combinedx2 just to get there. There are others in your area (anywhere really) that would LOVE to drive that track for even 1 run, just to be on a real track. Dont forget we are ALL nobodys, and we are all LUCKY to have sweet cars to play with and are lucky people give a shit to want us to drive.

Anyone who has a problem with Moe trying to do things, stop going to his events and problem solved. I understand you guys might have said something before, he learned now why it is a bad idea to hotlap that way. Moe is putting himself out there and doing what he can. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, if we were all there at 8am, and all at a 9am drivers meeting, and all had our cars ready to roll and THEN these issues came up, you could bitch. Its like the kid who wants to peg kids in the face in dodgeball and laugh and when he gets one to the grill, he cries that it hurt and sits in the corner for an hour.

Demo vs Fd vs tire use vs anything else, shut the fuck up yo. Pat has EVER SINGLE RIGHT to be bummed he didnt have good enough tires with him. Dude has been out of state more this season than I think everyone else at that demo combined for 2 years. He has been facing truck issues on multiple occassions, and had nothing but heart going all year. Get off his back if he wants to be bummed and JOKE about it all day. If you take pat seriously when he talks like that your being ridiculous. He is always about fun and he never sounded 'for real' upset about his tires, just expressing frustration.

Yea demos are for entertainment, but if FARA wants to write us some checks for our costs of fuel, rubber, and respect our skill and time we have put into making this 'show' possible, then maybe all the drivers will have new tires and not complain. Basically we are providing the most crowd pleasing moment of the day, for not only free to fara, but a loss to us. I have never made the trip because I never have a 'spare' $150 to just drive 60 min, for a truthfully tiny crowd. its not worth the money and effort. This time I did have some extra money and I made the trip. I had a blast, but its a hard sell for me to spend 5am to 10p.m. on a trip for 60 mins of seat time when its also costing me money. If it was say 3, -60 min- demo sessions over the day (early, mid day, end of day) Id be there in a heart beat.

I've always hated diva's that get too big for their britches, and I try my best to not be one. I dont feel like I deserve sponsors more than others that I drive with except for in attitude. Everyone knows me as mr.sponsor this or that and straight edge and always talking about shit like that. I dont know how anyone who wants to be respected can make a post like GSRacer's and expect to be invited back again. Yea, there are issues, but the WAY you say something can make or break you in the world, especially with people doing favors for you (setting up free track time). Anyone can just be respectful and discuss it in a critical way. Say what bothered you, suggest a fix, politely= done.

Those of you that want to try to get real deal sponsors, I have always put out there that I would help, I have told many people- numerous times, that I would help with proposals, how to approach, what to say, what to know, all that shit. I've been doing it for 4 fucking years and unless you are new to the scene, you should see I have some shit figured out. Don't ask me for help, then I spend 2 hours or 3 hours typing you up a novel and answering questions to go and never even write a paragraph of a proposal. Don't fucking wait will you have a license to compete wherever, dont wait until next year. Start now, start learning how to sweet talk a no to a maybe to a yes. Learn how to totally sink yourself by saying something dumb or sound like you are lost about your own career. Get practice answering questions easily, clearly, and informative. If I got a check for $500,000 today to start a 2 car team, who can I pick that can be professional and not embarrass me or the sponsor(s). Think about that shit. I've always been trying to get a bigger deal or help out others with what I can. I'd NEVER be where I am without my sponsors. I even took my lunch break today to go and give my mechanic a personal handshake and thanking for the work he did last week to prep the car. This last part is a little off-topic but yea, you guys want to have the tires and shit, get at me. If you think driving is hard work, get ready to hate life.

***Cliff notes***
Long drive, decent cost, little short on time (bad luck), AWESOME TRACK and REALLY FUN TIME.

Stop being dicks to Moe, you really make me feel embarrassed and don't include me (... "all the drivers felt...") when making statements. Thanks for the sick track Moe.

Pats rad, wish I was 5-lug to help a bro out.

If you want help with sponsor stuff, go pay some random internet site $100's for a packet and DVD or ask me. I didnt 'get' any sponsors, I've earned them all, and you can too.

Wow.... Im a diva now. I love it.

Box I came up to you as well as everyone else on sunday i didnt know and introduced myself, I dont know if me saying Hi nice to meet you, Im Jerry , your car looks really bad ass" comes across like i diva but im sorry, I know first impressions are the hard to shake.

Im pretty sure i listed the number one dissapointment in my post as me and my sucky driving before i got to anyone else.

If you have dealt with moe and his events the way i have, you would feel the same way, personally im sick and god damn tired of everybody saying this shit behind his back and no one confronting the issue.

As for getting invited back, I personally could give two fucks whether or not i get invited back. My whole problem with MOE, and a lot of other people feel this way but just dont have the balls to say so. Is that the events are more about him and what hes doing than the drivers.

Even Juan pointed out his childish antics with secret layouts and secret events, he has called me and told me i need you for a demo next week but and i quote " i can not tell you on what day it is, where it is or who you are driving with, just have your car ready". What kind of way is that to organize anything? And how is that profesional?

I am personally sick of the lack of profesionalism he continues to exude at these events, and sick of being reminded by him no less that if its drifting and south florida, he invented it.

Maybe after a while of dealing with moe you will understand how i and others feel the way that we do.

Props on you box for having an opinion, and even my wife told me "the guy in the yellow car was the one who drove the best today" lol.

Disclamiers
I sucked at drifting sunday
Even my wife thinks boxmod drove good
Im not a diva
I have a v8.

Jerry

ps

I dont need respect from anyone, but i will and forever always say it how it is. Sorry if that offends people, and i never ever spoke for everyone, just for myself.

Jason bringin the heat with the post.

agree that people hatin on Abe is retarded. He didnt make his wheel fall off, and he wasnt hoping that his car would break to cause us to lose seat time. It sucked that we got less track time, but it also sucked that his giant expensive wheel flew off, he fucked his car, and must have been embarrassed about it.

It was decently embarrassing when people kept claiming "all us drivers." Like Jason and I usually dont let shit bother us too much, so you dont know if we were mad or not.

And the whole thing about my tires, jason pretty much summed it up. My car has been done since the first week of march. I've driven it 7 times, 4 of wich have been out of state at pro am events. I also own a 6.0 liter ford diesel. I also dont have a tire sponser. Think about those cost. I spend a minimum of 1k to go to every pro am event.

Homestead is an awesome track. I cant wait to drive there again on some fresh big tires. Its gonna be super fun.

i suck, my car sucks

Trim your beard the day before the day before so you know if you need to trim it more or grow it more the day before the event.

yo jerry, i didnt mean to single you out, Juan +1 and bill +1'd also. I'm not saying you cannot be upset and cannot have an opinion and cannot think that Moe is doing things in a wrong way.

I'm ONLY saying the way your post sounds, it was overly harsh. If I was a person looking in from the outside, and planning on holding a demo. I wouldnt want a driver there that if something is off, they are going to go on the net and bash the shit out of me or my event. Matters like that you should say:

"there was some uneccessary stuff in the meeting, and I understand its important stuff, but it wasted time then. We should have had some of that talk later after the demo so we had more prep time. I also think that this hot lapping style sucked for cooling cars off and that you know that, we already talked about it in the meeting."

anything further can be PMed.

as far as the 'shady deals and 'secrets' i dunno about that, but its true thats kinda weird and unorganized. but really, this is a feedback on this event, and your letting everything influence your post.

i dont have a problem with YOU or with ANYONE there. just the feedback is for helpful criticism, not bashing. as a driver, if you want respect- deal it out. if you have further issues, discuss it in private.

it was free real track time, relax.

tell your wifey ty, i felt i drove as good as anyone else.

**even still, im not calling you a diva, i meant it more as a warning to not be one, remember that we are having the stupidest awesome kind of fun, and people love us for it. we arent curing cancer haha. no one at this event was a diva, but I've known some chill bros that went from cool guys like we all are being to divas out of no where.

Just to clarify, i just re-read my post and i never said all us drivers, i said several drivers or alot of the drivers. Specificly.

I know what your saying box about the respect and what not, BUT you see, i and a lot of other drivers tell him these things and he litterally rights it on piece of paper and wipes his ass with it.

Hes gonna do the same with this entire FEEDBACK thread, so none of us of should really be mad.

Rise above it then man. It was good to meet you, next time- wherever it is- hope we can v16 it up.

Let's see what happens in July.

I deal with Moe a lot and I have to agree with Jerry that things can be handled a lot better than the usual "secret plan, can't talk now" routine... However, keep in mind that a lot of times things happen behind the scenes that Moe can't control. Things are changing little by little and I can say that this event was a learning experience for everyone involved, including Moe whether you believe it or not. I can't control what he does, but what I can say is that I'm becoming more involved with the organizing part of this scene and will be helping Moe a lot more which takes a lot of the responsibility and workload off his shoulders. So don't lose faith man, threads like these are not going to go down in vain anymore because in one way or another we all want the same thing.

you want a chilidog, nerd?

i did not agree with the whole post so i should not have +1'd Just certain points i did.

wooah wooah im not putting moe down at all. I truly appreciate the opportunity to drive there and all the hard work he and others put into these events, and i believe he knows that. I was super dissapointed about the time but your all right im sure Abe was bummed about loosing his wheel and was not on purpose but i also believe it should and could have been prevented, by maintaining your shit. And i also give him props for maintaining line and angle on 3 wheels. Thats all I have no hard feelings against Abe or anyone at all. I was mainly expressing that this demo was supposed to be the best demo there yet with the awesome drivers we had, but it didnt work out this time hopefully next time will be excellent. I didnt like that we ran there and back but hey its ok if people didnt try new things than nothing would ever improve. Not putting anyone down. Take it easy lol

MOST IMPORTANTLY IM PISSED BECAUSE MY DRIVING WAS GAY AND I DIDNT GET TO DRIVE WITH EVERYONE I WAS SO STOKED TO REALlY THROW DOWN AND TRY TO GET CLOSE. AND THANKS BOX FOR NOT HITTING ME WHEN I FAILED IN FRONT OF YOU. And im sad that the roadracing destroyed my sweet e-brake pads and have no e-brake:(
