Charlotte County Drift Event - Jan 3, 2010

like a car that I saw was to low for the 18" tall tire that it had and it kept rubbing on the chassis making him spin every other run

ive been ripped on for having my car too high, but here is some logic ^^

competition isnt about who is the lowest, but i do want to get my car a little lower lol.

Heres some more pics from the event.

i thought frame sliding gets you moar pointz?!

He has a S2K motor so why the 185 still?

why not 185. if u run 255 with -3 deg. camber you are not putting whole patch of the tire on the asphalt. since SIDE-RUN 86 is running 0 camber that means all 185 is on the asphalt.

Actually sam my adorable sweetheart if your running 3 degree camber and you go sideway its not 3 degree of camber anymore its less!

No one with a properly setup car runs -3 deg of camber. Most competitive cars run 0-1.5 and I'm at 1.5 because I can't take anymore out :( Also, the less you go on camber doesn't mean more grip. It's all about the overall setup of the car. Just sayin from watching Bert drive, 185s seem too small for that car.

185's are pretty small for Bert's car. I would do 205/50/15. You might be saying that 205 is still small, but I say due to the weight of the Corolla, and how it is balanced, 205 is just fine. If he had an engine with more torque, I'd say 225. The car has a solid axle rear as well, so that also helps with contact patch.

If you look at most of the pro Corollas, you will see that 90% of them use 205's or smaller. Hell, Taka Aono ran 205/45/16, and he has a boosted Hasselgren motor making 380 whp. There isn't a lot of weight pushing huge side loads against the tires, and if the tires have a nice stiff sidewall, the contact patch is pretty decent.

Yeah I was gonna say 205s would be way better. His car was still really fast even on 185s though.

when i had my corolla i tired both sizes and i felt like i could push the car more with the 205s it felt safer at speed no matter how much angle i had. Givin with a na 4age like i had you have to run 2nd gear courses in third but its better i think
