No one said that there is anything wrong with making your own parts... I think fabricating your own suspension isnt a good idea. Since these companies do a lot of research (name brands) and studying of the car before they make the parts for it.Also, what i meant since u werent able to pick it up on your own. Was that Drifting is expensive. Events cost money, tires cost money, suspension + power cost money. there is no way that a 20 yr old cut spring is better then a brand new aftermarket spring. If he is having trouble buying a set of springs then how is he gonna cover all the other expenses? :confused:

Platano, I understand what you mean but i completely dissagree. there are alot of 300 + stock internal ka's running around. Some for years because they know what there doing. Its not that expensive to build a Ka. Also, you dont have to go internals unless you want to make more then 400 hp. Ask anyone who knows about Ka's and builds them for a living. like... BYP, Premiere...

Its a matter of tunning/timing with the ka. :bigthumbu

"Give me the 1000 reasons y a KA is better then an SR? " and you were'nt ablr to answer ... then you have the balls to tell someone that they you think theyre in the wrong motorsport because they can't afford something who the f*ck do you think you are..?

I've driven in 5 Drift events and 4 Autocrosses all on my own dime, I spend my money on seat time not parts


And just because someone agrees with someone and respects that person doesn't equal "swinging on nuts"
 
Guys, don't waste your breath. This guy has done no events and has built zero cars...he just talks. Ignore him and your lives will be easier.

Under_Control, look up Hooke's law. Read it. Understand it. It's cool stuff! Once you do, you'll realize that there is absolutely nothing "wrong" with cutting springs. For years, race cars did it. They only stopped because it became easier to aquire a desired ride height and spring rate through a 3rd party. It wasn't always easy though.

Dori, you dont know me. you dont know how many cars ive built. BTW ive been to alot of events and have seen that the most you ever done is put your super hicas through a wall at hialeah speedway...good job :ugh:

You havent built any because, from the looks of it you had a shop do your swap. Gee, what a gear head... :rolleyes:

Under control agree with you 100% its all about tuning etc. i just dont see to manny peole with 300hp ka drifting them u know what im sayin its just everyone throw in a cheap setup and no tunning and the ka blows and they say its a piece of crap witch is not the point when i had my ka it was a stock ka stock fuel besides the walbro and fpr i had sr injectors but ran shitty without a s-afc (i was a noob at the time of this) and it ran strong as fuk until i made the mistake and let a stupid ass friend of mine drive it it just so happens the wastegate went bad and after i distinktly told him to take it easy leaving a parking lot he though he could drift out of it FLOORD IT IN 1st AND IT WAS WET OUT JUST FINISHED RAINING all he did was spin the tires red line the shit out of it and wheni looked at the boost gauge it was coming down and i caught it at 17 PSI!!!!! he bent a rod but it still ran har after that just backfired nasty after that it was all downhill till i sold it but if i knew then what i know now i would have been set I like the ka but after all i have expirienced i like the ca more and hopefully if things go as planned im gonna have a rb soon if not another ca

You're god damn right i did and I am PROUD of it. You know why? Because I try. I'd rather put 100 cars into the wall trying than be some dumb shit sideline shit talker. Put up or shut up fan boy. And if you knew 1 bit about me you'd know I had a much more pathetic (and more recent) accident.

Hahaha, if you knew anything about me or Ter-Tech you'd know that we (as in the drivers) do 99% of our own work lol...sure, others chip in but aside from welding, we all work. Besides, I never claimed to be a "gear head". My point is, until you've actually owned and driven a car that's more aftermarket than OEM, you have no idea what you're in for. FACT.

Well, i thought i just told you that i will be attending an event soon.? Anyways, this isnt me trying to say that im better then anyone. I have been drifting for a long time though. YES its been in the streets. It starts in the streets...

I cleared things up with Eric. It was a missunderstanding. Not thats its any of your business. Stop trying to include others to make your point stronger.

I never once had to justify or explain any of my actions. That's you! This whole time all you do is make excuses and talk about what will happen. You will go to an event one day. You will post pics of your car one day. :ugh: You question my comprehension skills?! Ha! :laugh:

As for Hialeah, I don't even understand what you're trying to get at. Yes, I made a mistake. No, my car did not have Super Hicas (like i said, you know nothing), it had been disabled long before I ever drifted at Hialeah. There is nothing wrong with a 3rd gear entry although a 2nd gear entry and 3rd gear upshift would have been smarter. My biggest problem was the tire choice - they were 100% brand new, smaller than I was used to, and I didn't hold back at all (which was all my fault). At the time, I had never upshifted mid-drift and had no idea what would happen (and I was scared to try it). I thought it made more sense to enter in 3rd. Prior to that moment I had only done 2nd gear stuff and knew where my powerband was so I tried to do the same thing I usually did in 2nd, in 3rd. That was about an 80-85mph clutch kick with little/no banking while taking the wrong line. I have nothing to hide, justify, or defend...I made a stupid mistake. :rolleyes:

What reasons do you have for never participating in an event?

he probably hasnt participated in an event because just like every other KA-T owner (besides 240sicknessX) is scared their shit is gonna blow up on the track, or not even make it to the track lol and that's word to yo moms!!

hey under control, as a mod on this site i am asking for you to take it easy. Another thing we all crashed in hialeah, from rick, me, manny, greg, anthony, seamen, alex, santi, greasy, and a bunch of others, while you were in the other side on the fence all these guys were trying and having fun, thats what drifting is all about having fun, not bringing back the past to insult others. The reasons some of these guys are putting down the whole KAT is because unless you do a complete rebuilt, the KAT is super unreliable. Also please dont bring up the bandit, Bill and XAT are constantly having problems with it. Another guy with a KAT is Tony Schulz and he once told me that he keeps 3 KA just for replacement, because KAT are a time bomb.
 
Why would a shop that is constantly doing sr swaps rather go with a ka-t on there formula d car? Are you sure there always having problems with it? Doesnt add up. :ugh:

The Ka IS a reliable motor. havent u noticed how many 240s would be at hialeah pounding on there ka's all day long? The Ka-t on the other hand can be a reliable motor. Weve been over this already... tunning/timing/build....

Another thing is... because i went to an event to spectate and chose not to drift at hialeah aka "walls r us" doesnt mean that i dont know what drifting is about. Do you think that because i dont drift at an event that ive never gone drifting anywhere else? :rolleyes:

Btw, Just because you crash your car doesnt mean your good. it actually means your doing something wrong. Yes you do learn something from it (hopefully) but it doesnt mean your better then anyone because you have crashed in the past.

Most of the peoplpe who crashed in hialeah shouldnt have been trying to do things that were out of there league.. Obviously there skill wasnt up to par with what they were "attempting".

Sr vs Ka is getting old... :boring:

There's always gonna be kat's and theres always gonna be sr's Period. :cool:
