2011 FormulaD Rule book is done

I can't wait to see what classes are most competitive. It's too bad though, I wanna see 1000hp drift cars weighing 2000 lbs sliding on 375s at like 200 mph. But seriously, anyone think people might start filling their roll cages with lead to bump up into a wider tire?

Don't think our tire sponsor would like that......and only my cage is BLU808 that's why im building a new car.

the awesome time sponsor cant get mad at a matter of personal opinion. deal with it! I dont like your suspicious wheels, your prdobear talents, or ur rap video skillz... build a bridge n get over it. n u still my sweetheart.

this is going to be an interesting next season. itll definately level the playing field a bit.
im wondering how itll affect certain matches too. like for instance hubinett in his big ass challenger against taka aono.

i think this will change the pro level of the sport as well cause it changes the "run what ya brung" mentality. im so pumped for 2011 now lol

this...... i want to see the whole thing

i got it but its not complete jet
no major changes other then this tire size rule, little here and there
i think you have to have fire suppression system now but that's about it my cage would actually pass tech too

What the hell...

What the hell...

That's been a rule for a long time. Its to keep tire companies from making the price of tires fucking outrageous so normal people could still buy them. Think that rule was made because of the red smoke tires. The tires also have to have like xxxx tired made each year and be available to the public.

And also, treadwear means NOTHING!! It's a made up number from the tire companies.

8.3.1.1 Exterior body panels may be replaced or modified between and on either side of the vertical planes described in 8.3.1. Exterior body panels consist of any panel that could be considered an exterior finished panel of the original OEM vehicle that is visible from the outside of the car. Any metal above the line formed by connecting the lowest point of all the windows may not be removed, including the pillars and the windshield frame. The exterior roof panel is able to be removed and replaced with a composite panel.
8.3.1.2 The original OEM floorpan must remain fully intact between the vertical planes described in 8.3.1, with exception of the transmission tunnel and firewall rule as described in 8.3.3 and the fuel cell rule detailed in 8.5.1. Transmission shifter locations may be enlarged or relocated in the transmission tunnel when non original transmissions are used.
8.3.1.3 The interior unibody must remain fully intact and unmodified around the entire outside perimeter of the vehicle, between and inside the front and rear vertical planes described in 8.3.1, from the original floorpan at the lowest horizontal plane to the roof at the highest horizontal plane, with exception of allowances given in rule 8.3.1.2, 8.3.1.4, and 8.3.1.6.
8.3.1.4 Other interior unibody structures may be removed between and inside the vertical planes described in 8.3.1 that are not part of the original floorpan or outside perimeter or the unibody. These items can include the original rear window parcel shelf, interior tabs & structures for interior trim panels, various tabs or mounts for unused OEM steering columns and pedal boxes, OEM battery boxes and mounts, and unused OEM windshield wiper motor mounts and dividers not part of the original firewall structure. Any other items, mounts, or structures intended for removal from the unibody must receive prior approval in writing from the FD technical manager.
8.3.1.5 Rear suspension tower cross-members located at the top of the rear suspension towers may be removed from the unibody only if a suitable replacement structure of equivalent strength is installed after removal of the unibody section.
8.3.1.6 Any unibody panels or part thereof not listed for approved removal from the unibody structure in rule 8.3.1.1, 8.3.1.2, 8.3.1.4, or 8.3.1.5

this is new but its not really a big deal.

8.3.2 Suspension Design
The basic OEM suspension design type may be freely modified. The original suspension mounting “pick-up points” must remain in the stock, unmodified location.

I wish this rule changed so i could build stronger mounts and raise my rear suspension towers...

Just do it. Unless you're planning on driving in FD or XDC sometime soon. Then do it, but make it look stock.
