So I went to the junkyard today and found like 3 j30's in fairly decent condition, so before I go yank a diff off of one I wanted to know if anybody on here could tell me if they prefer it over welded, honestly I've never tried or even ridden in a 240 with a j30 dif, so I'm not sure if it's really a good idea or not.

thanks :bigthumbu

i have a welded and it treats me right..never had a j30 or anything else but as long as you have it welded by someone who knows what there doing you should not have any problems ...also if u dont mind the "cons" about a welded (chiriping tires make or w.e when turning at 5mph etc)

I had a j30 and failed hardcore. Went welded and rear locked up consistently; however, I fucking hate the churpin sounds and how my car feels like its gonna break apart. Other than that it is indeed the easy button.

What happened?

And I don't really mind the chirpy tires, my car already creaks and rattles and sounds obnoxious haha

get the welded then. if you dont mind it then your golden. and it eats tires pretty good. but its worth it. still the best $50 i spent on my car by far

If you Daily the car Drive fast in the rain and dont wanna put alot of stress on your tranny then go J30.

If its just a drift car then welded.

^But 240clem does not drift, so dont listen to him. IF you want to drift get a welded. Your car already makes sounds, so how much worse can it be with some chirping tires? Everyone daily drives welded diffs. Like bearcat said, J30 SUCKS DICK.

ya how come almost everyone that has a welded starts to say it gay and goes back to a VLSD?
ya i dont slide now cause i have better crap to do

^Who are you referring to?? Lmao. Everyone I know who drifts says J30s suck and drive on weldeds. Oh and Im referring to the 30 or so people (5% of the members on here) who drift and go to countyline, moroso, homestead, pbir, etc.

Yep, mine included. Except for a few like Jackson who has it in his 2JZ 240 and a very very few other people who have race cars and daily something else.

you smart talked me before and i dont hold grudges so this has nothing to do with our standing

but if you dont slide or dont want to slide because you have better crap to do them why are you on sfldrifters which is a forum for people who drift or want to get into drifting?

I don't want a vlsd for dat I save for a 2way .but since I don't have the money for a vlsd or a 2way I go get a welded for 50 vs a j30 for 60 to even 75 I've seen some. Ann I also daily mines from time to time n its str8

^Ftw hahaha

VLSD 6 bolt (if your lucky to find one in the yard) is like $30-40.
like they he said option and prefer.

Welded put alot of stress on the tranny and you can rock different size tires or its just going to fuck everything up and you cant be booking 70mph down 95 in the rain with a welded either.

J30 sucks after you drift it alot cause the Viscous gets hot and the diff no longer works.

So yes J30 sucks as a drift diff if you plan on doing a event all day for a long time but its better if you daily the car more then you drift it.

Welded is great for a drift car and not so great to daily is what i say.

this is not a j30 diff
