i have an oil pressure guage (came wit the car) and it cought my eye that when i go to step on the brake the pressure drops to i think 5 psi or or really dam low and the little warning light turns on but goes away whe im not braking, but on a cold start its at 60-75psi,wen driving under 3k rpm its at around 30psi and doesnt change til over 5k rpm....should i be concerned?

bump?

1 check oil level if the light turns on when you brake means oil isnt getting to the pickup
2 on a cold start your gonna have high psi the oil is cold and thick once it warms up im sure you notice its at about 25psi

the light turns on only on the guage but not on the stock guage cluster...im startin to think the aftermarket guage is goin bad

chances are that little red oil light on your cluster isnt even connected since the car has an oil pressure guage

good point...
ok so now the guage from a cold start is reading at around 75psi(normal) but like giv it 5 sec or so and it goes all the way down to 0psi, the car hasnt acted any differently tho...im starting to think its the gauge

sounds like the guage is fucked get yourself a nice mechanical oil pressure guage always nice to know you got proper oil psi. They run about 60 bux.

ill either do that or jus not run a guage, cuz its a stock ka n/a and the guages came in the car...

Well to each his own but ever since i blew my first motor due to low oil pressure i always run one even if im stock... We do beat our motors up so stock or modified i like to have as much info on whats going on under my hood and oil and temp are to key ones they can both quickly change without any obvious signs of problems just my 2 cents but good luck with whatever route you take.:D
