Bill Sherman?s Enjuku V8 240sx Ready for Formula D Atlanta [SNAPSHOTS]

im not saying that its the hot air causing the issue, but if it was not compensated for in the tune, and the timing was advanced in higher RPMs disregarding the hot air (which is possible, because from what i recall, this car wasnt dynoed or datalogged), then the combination of the 2 can cause the pcm to pull a lot of timing when the hot air is introduced causing this thing to fall on its face.

does that make sense? It sounds plausible to me. Either way, once this thing is on a dyno, even if it is a mechanical failure, it'll show it's face in the datalog (i.e. timing cliff diving in reaction to something else or leaning out caused by a weak pump or whatever).

pulling timing will lose maaaaaaaaaaaaybe 50rwhp.

look at everything. harness okay? bad connections? crank angle sensor okay (those can be sketchy). i've had everything from crank angle sensors, to check valves, to tps, maf, all die. even the stupid stuff, double check it. if your working at enjuku hop off computer, and start looking at stuff. yall built the car in six weeks, its quite possible something was overlooked, i dont really have a direction to tell you where to start as i really know nothing about what you did/didn't do.

if you are going to hope on the internet to save you though , ls1tech is a good start.

and get hptuners, for realz.

this is from a gto with a magnuson supercharger

and as you can see the power tapers down in the higher rpms

wow this is a taper??? Theres something else wrong here as mikespeed said, id definitly be looking at the tune.

What fuel pump are you guys running. please dont say walbro....

Maybe you guys should have gone to a vk56, they make way more power with a twin screw and dont have funky cam issues.

we are running twin walbro's

are they both actually still working?

did yall put a fuel cell in this per FD requirements? aeromotive a1000 or go home, fuh realz.

no its in the stock tank..
and thats what i told ken but we already had the walbro's at the shop and we didnt have enough time to order an a1000 in

i had a brand new one crap out on me right out of the box, went lean and lost about 70whp.

look into at the very least twin bosch 044's a bosch 044 single will prbably sustain you around 550whp, but better safe than sorry.

I guess bc it's a s14 the gastank sits under the back seat so u got more than 2 feet impact zone before u hit the tank.

Fuel cell design has been free since at least 2006. They do use the wording "fuel cell recommended" and mention the use of a bulkhead but it's not changed in over 4 years.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff floating around out there but the 06, 08, 09 and 10 rules all adhere to the "Free" design. They do give you the SFI 28.1 standard to use if you replace the OEM one though.

When it comes to the FD rules (Professional and Pro-Am), if it's not in an official rule book or on the FD website then I wouldn't put too much trust in it.
