its not a racial term. over sensitive people made it a racial term. my JAP professor even threw around the word as did many students in the class. Its a shortening of a word. Like Brits. Nothing offensive.

Was your Japanese professor first gen or second gen Japanese?

If you had grown up there then you might understand.
