So gas prices broke $4.00 a gallon and its like $60 to fill up a tank now

apparently theres going to be a gas strike on may 2nd where obviously nobody buys gas

anyone doing this?

hopefully itl hurt enough to force gas stations to stop raising their prices

this wont do any thing to the oil companys, dont buy gas from the biggest oil company for a month and then it might hurt them.

Id love to see people strike for a week....but the oil companies know we can't do that. We are dependant on oil. As well all know, they have been talking about the oil shit since I was in Kindegarten. Too bad the govrentment didn't do jack shit about it...and still won't do jack shit about it. Keep lacing them pockets.

If you want a good read, google the oil companies profits for this year. Itll blow you away.

Only one problem with that.....You won't hurt the oil company...youll hurt the middle man *store owners*

profits where in the billions, I wana say 8-9 years ago it was $10 a barrel of oil, it was like $120 something this week. the only real thing we can do is tax the hell out of the oil companys, or find better ways to power our cars.

this shit is so fucking stupid, lets see ither everyone who needs gas will buy it the day before or the day after may 2nd, so for one whole day if EVRYONE dosnt buy gas on may 2nd, wtf people will buy it the next day or after, you really fucking think this would work in ANY way?

to me theres no way around it, WE ARE FUCKED, unless the government sets in or something happens to DIRECTLY effect the oil companies.

wanna save gas, try not floring it everywhere you go with the loud gay ass exhausts stop fuckign stupid street racing, DONT GO TURBO lol. dont use your car for no reason, if its seriously in walking distance then fuckign walk, exercise and saving alot on gas just starting up a car and running it when its cold uses a shit load of fuel.
My plan, im buying a Kawasaki 250R!! slow but FUN as hell.

this will do absolutley nothing LMAO because peeople go out and buy more gas the day before and the day after it has zero effect. If you think this will do anything then you should hit yourself in the head with a hammer cause your a fucktard.

Thank you to the both of you. There is no effect if you do a ONE DAY boycott, it will only make up for itself in the days before or after. IMHO, the only way to really hit the oil companies is if we do a large scale Boycott, similar to the Montgomery Bus Boycott (if you don't know what this is, Where were you in Black history month during school?), it would have to be a large scale Boycott(like a national level), and millions of people will have to deal with carpooling, riding the bus, or another form of transportation (you all have legs, USE THEM!!!). But this would have to last longer than ONE DAY or even ONE WEEK, it would have to last several weeks or months. But most companies (not the oil companies, but everyone else) will not sacrifice profits by boycotting oil products, they need to deliver goods, power their bulldozers, and get food to your grocery store, cutting off oil products for any company will end in the failure of the company itself. and yet millions of people work at least 5+ miles from their home and will not be willing to walk or find other forms of transportation because they have a house to keep and a family to feed. So if you think about it, like I did, there is no possible way to boycott any type of oil product, doing so(without the support of the nation, as a whole) will only end up in failure. Sooooooo much money will be lost, so many people will NOT be willing to sacrifice any of their luxuries to lower gas prices. So, my advice is to just deal with it, get a more economical car, or start walking or riding bicycle, and wait for the government to GROW SOME BALLS and do something about it, which they won't because their money is going to a pointless war in the middle east... I'm talking about 12billion+ dollars a month that is going to this war, and what have we won? Nothing... That's right, we still have terrorist threats after we have been there 5 years to try to stop terrorism... Don't they think, if Iraq finally does reform and clean up, there are only 180+ county's in this world and more than half will be stupid enough to make another terrorist strike. So why waste time on ONE county/region...

That's beyond retarded. The main problem with demand for gas is in China, not here.

What's the point in protesting for gas here, if you guys will still be going to Walmart supporting all of the shit they buy straight from China, giving them the clear demand for gas to be used in transportation, manufacturing and electricity?

Time to harden the f*ck up, give up the gas guzzlers, and move to hydrogen for commuting. Oh, and ethanol is a stupid solution for the problem as well.

PS: I have owned a Ninja 250 for over a year. 70mpg is great, but the bike hardly is. It's beyond unsafe on the highway with traffic. Great to ride around in-town though. And it does save my ass in instances like this weekend where I have been blowing out tires on every single car I touch. Full sidewall separation from the rest of the tire on the turbo car and on the 740i.

Still a fossil fuel, so that does little to no good as to provide a short-term alternative.

I never even put China into the picture... but as you can see, the demand for oil products is ridiculous, I never thought sooooo many people would all rely on ONE product. But we have only ourselves to blame.

I will never take a bike on the highway, I have no need to take the highway anywhere since the only locations I drive to I can get to on local streets, and anywhere else I go to is about 30 miles away so my FC will take care of that.

EDIT: I just read the first sentence again. It is way beyond retarded.

Just wanted to see what everyone thought

whats retarded is, were paying so much because our country is too scared for the environment to drill a fcking oil refinery off the coast of florida. We have other countries using oil from space in between florida and cuba!

My history teacher keeps ranting about how they took a vote a few years ago and they lost by just a litle bit cause of like 6 people. Then one guy said that 10 years from now wed be suffereing and paying $10 a gallon, and thats exactly whats starting to happen

anyone know more on this? i think its kinda interesting

Now its wrecked and sitting in a garage for over a year.

Drivers down here dont respect riders...

No respect.... Until they kill a fellow rider because they were eating shit on their blackberry looking up the lyrics to a song they just heard on the radio when they should be DRIVING!!! Smart phones are a poison to the ones that own them... I have seen people actually google a topic while at the wheel. (not fun to be the passenger ) srry for the thread jack...

yeah, id love to have a bike because one, they look fun as hell, and two there pretty good on gas compared to cars, but...

more than i dont trust myself with one, i dont trust other drivers. Even in a car, i dont feel safe with the florida drivers out on the road. You know for the license test they dont even make you drive on the street anymore? you just go through a course of cones in a parkinglot and you pass

and they think they need to hire the driving age and insurance rates simply because of age alone? pshhh

if i ran this country, the license test would be similar to that of germany, and it would include a test on basic car controll in wet weather (wet parking lot i guess)
