It is a pretty constant leak coming from the front, top, passenger side of the fuel tank. It had been stinking like fuel for the past week but I couldn't see any leaks until yesterday afternoon when I went to put gas and it just started pouring. It stopped leaking when the fuel gauge reached a little more than half tank though. I cant really see where it is coming from exactky since it is coming from the top of the fuel tank. So far I have split votes between cracked tank and fuel hose from some of you out there. I am budget tight and this was very unexpected so I am looking for a cheap mechanic whore who is willing to help me with this and has any idea of how to troubleshoot this. I understand that labor on this may be pretty intensive and it is going to cost but I am trying to pay the smallest bill possible for this one. Pleaaaaase help!!!!! I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you all in advanced!

wait till you're pretty low on gas, pull onto a lift, and drop the tank.. you don't need money to drop the tank, just some free time

have you checked the fuel lines coming off the fuel pump?

Yeah, they keep clean all the way to the back of the fuel tank; at least til as far as you can see. Fuel drips from the top of the tank and travels down the front by around where the strap runs. Considering the possibility that I may be checking through the wrong place, I dont see a way to be able to check the leak's origin unless the tank is dropped cause it comes from all the way top and back.

Yeah, the problem is I don't have proper tools, mechanic shop jacks, nor lift available. I rent so not even a garage for now. I am in the process of buying a house hence my tight budget but for now all these things are not immediately available. I have received couple of PM's from people with more availability than I have, offering to help so now I have options. Thank you whores out there:bigthumbu

yo, ur the guy that came to sears right??? to ask me about my rims???

mannn i have gas leak also, i put my car on the lift and i appear to have a crack on the top right side of my tank,

ima try to pull mine out n then ill let u know how much of a pain in ur ass its gonna be

Yeap that was me! What a fucking coinsidence. Dude please LMK whats up? I have already checked the fuel lines. They look good. If you do bring the tank down, would you let me come see the mess? or take pics and send to me. I live relatively close to Sears.

Well, here is the latest:

I checked the fuel lines. There are two going towards the passenger side of the car (send and return); by the rear wheel well. Those two are fine. Now here is the enigma. There are three more lines that I cant check. One goes from the fuel pum towards the top, driver's side of the fuel tank. The other two also come from the hardlines but towards the top, driver's side of the fuel tank as well. Can those be checked and replaced somehow without bringing the fuel tank down? Or am I pretty much screwed and bringing down the tank is my only option? Please advise? Also, I filled the tank all the way. The weird thing is, I took off the two pins holding the straps of the tank hoping that the tank will drop good enough for me to be able to look through the top. Of course the tank did drop but only millimiters, not low enough. When I did that the leak stopped. After, I pushed the tank with a jack back up to position and it started leaking again. Can this hint anyone the answer to my leaking tank before I finally take the thing apart? Here are some pics:

why is it that everyone is having this problem.
Today i notice the smell and im like oh shit, and when i check its my return line.

:ugh:

I guess lifespan of the fuel tank and hoses back there on an s14 avearages 12 years therefore everyone is having the same problem around the same time. I say s14 because most that have told me about going thru this issue have s14 as well as I. I understand there may be exeptions.

im gonna try to patch mine up before i go through the trouble of pulling it out cuz if i take out the subframe im gonna end up painting it all lime green like my brakes and getting new bushings for everything, and i really dont feel like doing all that right this moment

Some of you out there have reached out to me with the same fuel leak issue and no resolution. Well, here is a diagram I picked up from Nissan which may clear up where some of the hoses come from and lead to. I hope it helps.

Yeah i saw this before. It is bad enough for me not to attempt to do it by myself. Specially cause i lack tools and other equipment. Thank you though. I have been told s13 tanks are easier to do. 5 to 8 hour job on s14 with help and tools I hear. Not sure if thats true. Some peeps here have offered to help so i may be reaching out to some of them by the end of this week. Sorry about the 17 minute missread. Must be sleepy or eating shitt or something:bigthumbu
