Very important 300zx brake?

Hello i have tried to figure this out and i cant find the info that i need. I really need help with this problem cause i am starting to loose the light at the end of the tunnel.....

The question is, are the 26 mm brake calipers narrower over all from front to back verus the 30 mm brake calipers? or is that width just taken from the inside of the calipers???

please somone who knows this for sure answer dont say something like yeah i think so.... i need to know for sure! this has become a big problem cause i cant get my wheels to clear and i already have 10mm spacing.

I dont think the calipers are wider on the outside dimension but the rotor that it accepts with full pads is a different width. The rotors have the same hat height or offset, just varying widths on the friction surface.

so the calipers them selfeves are the same in dimesion? that is what is important to me not so much the rotor. i may just go buy these aswell and see for myself cause i am just so tired of this battle with the calipers and hitting my wheels.

I just need 1 or 2 mm that is it just enough to clear the damn wheels... as it is i already had to shave the NISSAN from the calipers and still i need more. FUCK!

from what i remembered, the 26 mm calipers where the only ones that fit in a certain type of s13 SE wheel.. so to me i think the brake calipers are different on the outside as well?

i was thinking the samething that since they are smaller the over all dimesion would be too. but i just shaved off more metal off the calipers and got the wheels to fit with no rubbing issues... would have like to kept the NISSAN wording on there but what am i going to do... fuck this car is starting to win the war......

the only thing that would have saved my ass would have been a larger spacer... like 11mm-12mm probly would have saved my ass

i think the 26mm calipers are overall a bit smaller, i run them rite now with the specific style S13 alloys and the correct spoke patter on the backside. It barely clears but it does. The 30mm will not you would need a spacer so unless the castings are slightly different, i think the 26mm caliper "might" be smaller. Just makes sense but i've never taken any measurements etc. Just logical thinking.

to me it made sense to think that the 26mm was a smaller in over all dimension. i wouldn't mind returning all this shit that i bought and getting a 26mm caliper and rotors and pads if i knew that it would be smaller. I wish that someone could tell me that has done both of them. i am starting to think that maybe i should buy just one 26mm caliper and see how it fits and if it fits better then i will swap this shit all out.

i mean what type of benifits would i gain with the 30mm vs the 26mm, i just cant imagine that there is a greater difference in perfermance.

i don't get what your trying to do.

are you trying to keep stock se s13 wheels? if so why don't you just run spacers?

if its such a big deal i'll trade you my 26mm for your 30mm.;)

HA! stock wheels... i have a set of 17x9 +28 BBS meshies. i am already running spacers (10mm) the question was are the 26mm calipers narrower then the 30mm so that i did not have to shave the nissan off the calipers. i would trade you but is everything you have brand new like mine? haha i doubt it.. i bought reman calipers from auto zone and pads and rotors and shit from there.... now i need to go buy some new rear calipers.

thats weird +28 with a 10mm spacer and the wheel won't clear the calipers? that stange. they all look almost the same but i guess in your case every mm counts.

mine may not be new but hey if you want i can rebuild them and then we can trade..

yeah i looked at that pic but it just wasnt very definative in answer for me. i will see about getting another set here at auto zone and try to see if it fits any better..... but it really doesnt matter anymore last night i just shaved a little more off the calipers and they fit just wish it still said nissan on it :(
