How many of you say "Thank You" when you shouldn't?

Im the same way. Not only do I just always say " Thank you", but a lot of times I go as far as saying " Thank you, have a nice day". I say it to EVERYONE when I work so I guess it just stuck to me.

It does frustrate me when you go somewhere and buy something and they act as if you were wasting their time and being a burden to them. It makes them look rude. So no matter what I say thank you because I would never would like to seem like a rude person.

Other people shouldn't be able to change you. If you are a nice and well mannered, be one no matter what. Never sink to their level.

I don't care about getting a thanks when I open a door. What is a thanks? A fuckin word. When someone opens a door for me, I'm not thankful, it was just convenient because I didn't have to open it myself. Are you truley thankful when someone opens a door for you? Is it that hard to do yourself? Either way I say thanks because I was brought up to, but it's dumb I think. Is someone saying thanks about that going to brighten your day up that much? You were going through the door anyway so do you really need/deserve a thanks?

I got food at Wendys today and said to myself "I wont say thank you unless they are polite" They said drive up, I said "ok". They gave me my change, didn't say anything. And I was saying in my head at this time, "It's not hard to not say it" Right then she handed me my food and I said "thanks!" drove a car length and said "FUCK!". It's like instinct, no matter what I think about it, my thank you reacts before my brain does.

dam so true u know what another thing is apologizing when its not needed .... like when someone misstypes something im like what there like sorry my mistake lol

Id say most of the time i say thank you depending on how much of an ass the person is, but at work(i work with kids) im always telling them thank you, please, your welcome, and they do realize im being nice so in return they arent such hardasses when i ask them to go where they need to be(class or just stop playing around)

today a kid told me thank you for talking some sense into him before he got him self in troule

You're thanking the person for not shutting the door on your face, not b/c its difficult.

Depending on what door your talking about. Most doors close slowly, noone "shuts" doors these days. It's not like the door will slam, it's not difficult to grab it yourself.

If you think its cool to close doors on people walking behind you...idk mang. I was raised to think its rude for someone to close a door on me and polite to hold it open for me. For polite jestures, I say thanks. But i agree with Devil Man that if the favor is not returned there's no reason to get ghey

its not a matter of oh i am going to just walk out and let the door shut behind me and not give a shit... no if i see someone coming and i am steping out then i will just hold the door open. its just a matter of kindness and nothing more. and i do get the favor returned and when i do i appreciate that someone was trying to be nice just as i do. you never know man maybe one day you might shut the door on someone and that might just be it and they snap and kill themselfs or just the oppisite you hold the door open and that person gives you a job of the life time or something crazy. you never know whats in store for you in life and thats why i try to do the right thing and be nice there is no need for all humans to be angry and not just be poilite. imagin how much less stressfull work would be for you if everyone that you dealt with was kind and polite. imagine if you worked at oh i dont know lets say BoA (since there is another thread about that) and you just had some asswhole yell at you and now that has put a dent in your day or your performace for the rest of the day... unessary... and another thing too... this bugs the shit out of me... people getting so upset about the littlest things. there are somethings in life that arent worth getting so upset about. like for instance the subject of this thread. is it really that nesscary to get so mad about something like saying thank you? arent there more important things in life to warrent being so upset about? like shit i cant pay my mortgage or something seriuous. i rarely get upset and sometimes when i do i take a look back at things and try to correct myself. if you dont take anything from what i said then take this

life is too short to worry about the small things, dont get upset about a mix up in your order at mcdonalds.. just go back and get it fixed. and also, try to be nice to others that way everyones life is as stress free as possible.

I'm not stressed out one bit over it. I'm just saying, why? And if someone kills themselves because I didn't hold a door open for them then they should die.

the best way to think of it is by saying thank you, you assert your intelligence over these stupid people who do not possess enough smarts to do the same.
I'm the same way, in fact I catch myself alot when i see its not being reciprocated. I think impoliteness is a florida thing, so I shall end with "Florida Fail".
