i dont think anyone would disagree that going shallow to keep up isnt what drifting should be but you cant get mad a driver for doing exactly what was asked of them by the people deciding the winner. yes we all know saito could hold full angle and still keep up with any driver in fd but why risk it at the professional level he did exactly what he needed to do to win. plus i dont know how much faith he really has in most of the people he is driving against to do what they need to do to not cause a crash. again this is at the professional level it would be different if this was a stupid local even but with the money and everything else that goes with winning fd can you blame any driver for playing it a little safe if they can and still win?

now with that said its gay and everyone needs to go balls to the wall cuz thats what makes drifting fun

judging by those videos i dont really see what the controversy is i mean fields did great dont get me wrong but im not seeing saito go any shallower that fields did and he didnt hit the wall

Ahhhhh.

Jeremy just told me the best idea for a reply.

"it's over, why are they arguing?"

Jason, is it more exciting to watch two cars super close, or two cars driving at lock, 15 feet from each other.
ALSO...is it more fun to drive at full lock 15 feet away from someone, or shallow up your line and angle, and throw it on someone's door.

in the second video, it look like if fields didnt hit the wall he would of fell a little back but the wall hit made him bounce right on saito's door

and jason, dont get mad pooky. im just going by what i saw :)

this points of my argument is that DAIGO doesnt need to shallow up to keep up, his car is not underpowered, with his history, he should be able to drive on a door while at angle. i understand a few feet more shallow than the leader, i get it, but not a car length ++. *Gittin was even left with no reason to explain why Matt didnt get the win (sure it mattered for his championship, but his immediate and emotional charged reaction seemed to be truthful)

jeremys idea for a reply is stupid, next season is too late to discuss it. and lets talk about it in general then, instead of the acutal runs in question... i think FD does a great job except for this now "super gray area". when is does it become "too shallow"?. dont you guys get it?

dont you see the next step?

if you can shallow up to get close and not get penalized, then why should the lead driver throw big angle and knowing that you can shallow up, ride your door and win.... run lead with shallow angle and run away from the guy that is following...

then follower is going to be even more shallow to get proximity...

then leader gets more shallow.... and the follower now is even more...

now we are a new class of touring car racing and we are worries about making a gap on the follow driver.

Pat, its more exciting to watch 2 cars super sideways 15 feet apart than 1 guy at lock and the other at 50% because "he couldnt hang so he had to cheat up his line".... do some of the PGA pro golfers us the ladies tee boxes because they cant drive it as far? no they step up their game or they lose.

I hate to do it but, D1 the guys drive at the same angle and nearly the same line (with a foot or 2) and they stay insanely close. Why are we allowing people to bitch out?

I'm not really arguing, im passionately discussing. I give a crap that we are training drivers to be a pussy in the follow position, and people are becoming ok with that.

**additional thought
dont we win a battle by mimicing the lead driver?
dont we win a battle by doing what the lead driver does better?

how does shallowing line/angle fall into place there?

i hate the fact that gitten was talking during the runs bc its obvious he wants daigo to lose so he wins. it was a tad bit annoying.

first run was definitely a OMT, both drivers had mistakes but IMO second run was all daigo.
