Where, who, and how much?

There must be someone that has to know where I could go for this......I finally received my VLSD yesterday through UPS and hoping that it is the right one for my S13 the only thing is that I need to know where and who I can take it to that I can have confidence in to putting it in my car.....

What brand is the LSD from, is it a Nissan or aftermarket? Either way is a pretty straight up install dude, you can even do it right there at the pep boys where you work at. We swapped a J30 VSLD to an S13 and it wasn't a big deal, pretty straightforward ****....just really uncomfortable.

i dunno, id rather do a diff swap on the floor then on a lift. ive done my z32 diff on the floor w\ alchemist xl and my subframe bushings on the floor by my self. just make sure that you have a full size jack that you can lower the old diff on, and put the new one on with.

umm yea you need the front diff bushings for a j30vlsd i think. If the front mounts are around 1-2 inches inside diameter you will need the front differential bushings for a s14\j30\z32. The s13 fronts are only about 3\8ths of an inch wide and you only fit the front bolts through them. If you dont have the bushings i dont even know if will stay in there.

the bushings that you need are these

once you have them and the diff its pretty self explanitory on how they go in, but i dont know how much you know, i might have an exploded view of the diff installation to explain

you also have to take the rear cover off the s13 diff and put it on the back of the j30 diff so it will bolt to the rear part of the subframe. watch the lower gear ratio of the j30 will off set your mph a few around 40, the faster you go the more offset the mph will get. just take note when you see johnny law following you.

use the rear swaybar to your advantage. dont take it all the way off or even unbolt the mounts if you can. you will see what im talking about when you put the new diff in. but you might have to undo the mounts..... its been a while.

I was about to say you should ask Dan or Rick about that, but Rick beat me to it. Ya gotta love Rick. Him and Dan are the all knowing beings of 240s.

More information required...is the VLSD in a pumpkin...which vlsd. You can take it to Ter-Tech. You'd be hard pressed to find a shop with more knowledge about 240's than them, no joke.

With 4 KAs sitting in the shop, I would agree. Harri would probably know 240s as good as BMWs now.

Well not only does he work on them all the time, but with everyone else in the shop or connected to the shop, he has almost unlimited resources.

Oh so you need the gears installed in the pumpkin. Out of my league, never done it before, maybe a transmission shop or something??
