Where can i buy tires?

Whats up guys. Well, i signed up for the event and i need tires and then mounted and balanced. Im looking for 4. My rims are 16x7 and 16x8. I liked the strecthed look but i wont get picky cause they are only for the event. Well, where is a good cheap place to go? Mind you i live by the sawgrass mall.

So your saying to buy new tires for the event? I found 215/45/16 for $60 each. Or is it best to save my money and buy used tires?

I dunno how much of a stretch you are going to get on 7 and 8 wide but i normally shop edge, discount tires direct and tirerack for price comparisons. They dont carry all the same lines of tires so depending on who has the tire im looking for will get my business.

If I can wait for the tires to get here ill normally get em from discount tires opposed to edge just because I dont always have the time to run down there and pick them up.

205 40's aught to be good.

I thought you were looking for new tires also. I have friends at tire shops get me tires + mounting.

If you are learning the basics of drifting then dont worry about buying new tires to smoke in the rear. You should be putting that money into parts. On the other hand, for someone who has a pretty well setup car and has been driving for 2 years would benefit from using quaility new tires in the rear.

New will last longer for sure. If you go and buy 4 tires with like 2 or 3 /32nds of tread you will burn them fast.

Used tires are old and usually fly apart faster so definitly you want to look for atleast 1\4in tread left before you consider those tires for an event.

I had a set of 225 45 17 pirelli (spelling) tires with 3\32 left, I lit third gear up pretty good around the oval once then i heard them start to leak air 10 seconds later.

rwdrift likes falken zeix. 400 treadwear, rather inexpensive. I think he said they lasted him some time, in a 205 size.

If you do not burn the tires unnessacarly, like keeping on the throttle after you have spun out, a new set of tires will last a low power car ( na ka ) an event or close to it if tire wear is even.

beware though, you will have alot more grip with new tires compared to ones that are older or used. So if you are getting the hang of drifting on a 205 used or older tire. Dont think you are going to go out and slide the same on a brand new 205. Sometimes its good to have less traction for larger track areas, it allows you to keep in your rpm range easier and allows for more correction with the throttle for steering inaccuracies.

note: a wider tires lasts longer then narrow.

If you are considering getting new tires for the event, get a new set and if your daily driver set have some tread on them use them too. Get a few laps in on the daily tires but keep in mind that you are going to switch to these to drive home on. So dont go nuts. Then maybe switch to the new tires you bought and go until they pop. Swap rear wheels and drive home.

well, my dialys are 17x8 and have 2 month old tires on them. That would be 2 sets of tires. What would be the strategie? start off with the dailys to get comfortable then switch to the drifters and go all out? thats 2 sets of new tires.

w\e you want.

I would have at least 1 full set of tires, or 2 sets of good used for the event.

open diffs eat tires faster then lsd's.

hes got a starion so I dont figure hes down on power and also most came with LSD's clutch types at that the only thing hes gonna run out of is steering angle :)

Glad Piner knows about my car. I think im going to put used tires on my dailes and drive there on them. Then ill put my drifters on with used tires as well and drift. If it comes down to it, ill drift my dailies that will have used tires on them. That sound good? I know you guys are tires of ym asking but i just want to make sure i dont run out of tires and still have a way home.
