What should I get?

Just sold my hatch.. so I'll have around $10k to play with.. what can I buy that's good for $10,000? catch is that it has to be RWD, and 2000 and up in year. ]= I was thinking a camaro SS or mustang GT.. hmm.. camaro makes more power.. but mustang sounds cooler. which one can drift better? 0_o
but yeah any input would help. I need ideas on diff. cars i can get.

I have an MG Midget, not running right now. It's a project my grandfather and I are working on. They're pretty cool. I'm most likely going to sell it when we're done, I'll let you know.

forget american cars, cause once you buy it you'll want another 240 once you see that you are not sitting in one. get a kouki s14 and do you thang from there, can't lose!!

^ I have NO idea what you are talking about. If by drift ready you mean a ghetto SR swap, single stage paintjob with a 89 shell (showing its age in interior) and a welded diff... then yeah. $6k might be enough.

Not to mention all the downtime you'd need to put it all together. If there is no downtime, then you need someone to do it for you, and that usually means money on labor.

Good deal on running s13: $1500
SR swap: $2000
Proper SR Swap add-ons (Koyo, FALs, FMIC, etc): ~$700
Single stage paintjob: $1000 (hialeah)
Suspension: Starting at $900 (plus control arms, tension rods, etc)
LSD: $200+ (because a welded is not for someone who wants a nice daily)
"Audio": (Since you mentioned) $400
Wheels/Tires: $600 (Sportmaxxes for cheap's sake)
Labor: $500+

We're well over $7k already. And the car wouldnt be "mint"

u serious lol
good running s13=$1500
paint job=$1500
suspension=$900
lsd=$200
audio=$300
wheels and tires=$200 - $400 (diamond racing wheels or stock se's)
intake,headers,exhaust=$400

$5200 for daily with decent power to drift nice system nice paint lsd and ac

my setup (track car)

sr= $1800
add ons = $900
suspension = $1200
baller wheels u track down = $200
tires = $200
labor $350

$7150 if i would have patiently waited for a shell such as the $700 flat black one it would have been $5350 for a clean ass sr swap making 260 whp on clean wheels and badass coilovers mind you that shell had full interior and nice paint

He seems to want something that needs no downtime. And for that patience wont work and you'll have to pay whatever best deal is available at the time.

And to make an s13 "drift ready", it depends what one would consider drift ready. Technically, any stock rwd car is ready to drift. But if you want to call drift ready with something of a drift setup, then we are talking coilovers, some power mods (namely SR, or something drastic to the KA, like a time bomb), suspension components, and we're not even talking about having to piece together an interior with good pieces since for sure no 89 shell for $1500 will have. So start with a cracked dash for an extra $100 and another $100 in mist pieces. Probably $150 in s14 seats since your stock seats will look like crap anyways in a $1500 shell. Also add any maintenance needed, because this has to be a baller drift car, and you wouldnt ride around in something with 20 year old bushings if you're going to drift it.

By the way, "baller wheels" will not be bought by $200.

The thing is the car has to be sorta new.. honestly im going to miss this car. i got lucky when i got it.. clean ass chassis, really nice paint, clean SR swap.. i was golden. just no a/c. \=

the reason im selling it is because i have no a/c and car insurance is crap as fuck with this car. The kid buying it bought the plane tickets for him and his fiance to come down here in a week or so and drive it back up there.. i told him i have 1 seat in it and hes like whatever she can sit on a blanket. 0_o

hopefully i can find another clean clean sr powered 240 in the future..? \= it's definately going to be on my list of cars that i must have. Some of the best handling. nissan did a great job on this car. but i just want something new, RWD, and nothing that i'll be paying off for 5 years lol.

New car insurance (especially a sport car... which usually just means rwd), is nowhere cheaper than an older car.

Plus, you're selling a car because yours doesnt have A/C? Buy the compressor, the lines and put it all back together.

You sure you did your research on new cars?

^ your sig makes me dizzy 0_o (in a good way)

but yeah i did research.. my neighbor owns a G35 coupe and he pays about $127 monthly.. i pay $240 \= i called my insurance guy and had him quote a few cars for insurance and they seemed a lot more reasonable.. reason why theyre cheaper is cuz you know, air bags, safety features, etc. And many ppl told me to put an a/c from scratch, it'll cost me well over $1,000. not sure if it's that worth it lol. plus the kid's coming down in a week to get the car. i can always back out by photoshopping a pic of my car on fire or something and return his downpayment lmao

I dont know. A friend of mine moved from an S14 to a 350Z and ended paying more. And from looking around, I see older cars paying a lot less for insurance than newer cars. Mainly because the car is already deemed worthless.

How old is your friend? How is his driving record? How is your driving record? Credit score? The actual car has little to do with the cost of insurance. You are the main thing that insurance companies look at.

you could install coilovers OR shocks and springs,intake,headers,exhaust,lsd,and wheels,and audio into a s13 in ONE day

Umm.... I basically had a leftover (barely running) parts car S13 coupe that I put together in a month. I remember the price quotes of how much shit cost.

My interior came back together because people hooked up on pieces they were giving away.... but I remember the price quotes. You list the very low end prices and your definitions are way off.

But this is a conversation of terms, and your terms are different than mine. So agree to disagree.
