What kind of gear oil do you run ?

I just asked 2 of my friends and they say they use the regular Lucas stuff.

I know for a fact that Amsoil motor oil provides protection well over 7000 miles, I am not sure about the trans oil though.

Royal Purple is too expensive....18 dollars a quart
Mobil 1 is up there too.......16 bucks a quart
Amsoil I got for ................14.........can't beat that.

It's not everyday that I change my trans fluid, I am going to get their synchro-mesh to top it of when i do change my oil though.....if everything runs smooth though

I use advanced autopart cheap ass 80-90 or whatever. Shits bawlin. Drove the same sr tranny for 3 years and it's stillll rockin like a champ.

Idemitsu ? Never heard of that before...gotta check it out.

I think i have valvoline durablend in my motor now....don't like it cold shifts nasty and grinds in third untill it heats up.

iv ran a bunch in the last two years and blew about 6 trans if i remember right. Mostly because i used an hks twin disc unsprung and beat the fuck out of it. (underpowered) i started running mt 90 and shifting was good but blew trannies fast. So i used cheap 80-90 and pulled the twin disc and its fine shifting isnt great. Now im going to run a mix of mt90 and shockproof.

lucas 80-90.

How is the shifting with the shockproof oil on regular transmissions? I've used it on dog boxes before and loved it.

lol i dont think it would make that much of a difference to where you will notice it honestly... i use supertech from walmart like 4$ a qt ftw!

thin oil and i blow up gears not strip them iv broken two 3rd gears in pieces thicker non syn apperantly prevents them breaking in pieces but i rip off some teeth sometimes. shifting is way better with the thinner oil thicker non syn synchros hate me
