Its time to change my gear oil, after a couple bad experiences and utter confusion i want to know what people out there are using and how are the results so far.

Me - Redline mt90...cold shifting a bitch, Royal purple - no way too much bad reviews, too thin breaks down easily. Mobil 1 is gl-5 not recommended for our trannies.....thats what run now.

Now im thinking about Amsoil Manual tranmission and Transaxle fliud 75w90 gl-4.

What do you guys have to say?

Royal purple ftw

Mobil one is gl-5 which contains chemicals that break down yellow metals such as the ones like the syncros that make up the sr/ka trannies. RP once the oil reaches a certain temperature it has been noted to grind in third....which means the chemicals used break down at a certain temperature......Mobil 1 will work for some motors but its ideal for SR/KA's

Everyone knows you can't use urine in your tranny.......the best place is in the mouth that shit is better at replenishing electrolytes than tigerade.

ur fucking stupid....

i still have yet to see this mythical problem with mobil 1 because of the gl5, at least on nissan trannys ive used them on every s14 ive had since 2001 and have yet to have a tranny go bad on me ever for any reason...

No ive never had problems with mt-90. But like gsracer said, i dont think you'll have a problem w/ gl5 additive fluids. Most syncro related transmission problems, much like most clutch problems, usually stem back to the driver. I was pushing 350+hp to the wheels when i got rid of my car and that was after years of drifting, auto-xing, and regular flogging. The only transmission problem i ever had was b/c i mis-shifted and clutch kicked 5th gear pretty hard like 3x thinking my clutch was slipping haha. I run crap shit fluid in my current transmission but when i thought it mattered, i ran MT-90. I can tell you're hard pressed on a non gl-5 fluid, which is why i originally recommended it.

Their is a guy that sells Amsoil near where I live. I got some trans oil very reasonable. It is alot cheaper than Royal purple and about the same price as redline.
