what ive been doing after work

well so the last 2 nights ive been trying to get my new setup ready for moroso . heres some pics of what ive done so far.

this is what happens when you do the spindle mods with normal offset rims... you hit things.

so i thought well ill just get some spacers to fix it......... still hits but not nearly as bad.
heres my car with the spacers on,luckly i don t have to do fender work.

now that i have more angle i need more power sooooooooooooo
i started to polish the turbo but got lazy so i stopped

tomorrow im going to get all the fittings for the turbo and start wiring up the haltech.
hopefully it will be running next week sometime!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice steering angle, but it looks like you used a MIG. Please for your own safety take them to a pro welder and have them grind the weld down and TIG them with 301 or 309 stainless rod, thats the only way to safely weld carbon steel and forged to cast iron and cast steel. Other wise, looks great.

Not, trying to bust on you, just dont wnat to see that spindle come apart. Prolly wont, but just to be safe....
 
any recomendations? i dont think it will come apart tho, i beat the crap out of it with a hammer and all the welds were fine. but if by doing that will make it stonger then im all about it.

Yea it's maybe 20minutes of work for someone who can TIG, and it will penetrate deeper, mixing the metals better. Rick Tavares can probably do it for you.
 
Your steering arm is going to break.

Get a new pair and V the joint out so that you can fill it with weld.

I'm with Sean, don't want to give you a hard time, but I also don't want to see the upright disentegrate.

yeah i totally agree. the problem im having it basically offset. i already put inch spacers on , but i think i might have to go 2 inch to get the most out of this mod. or buy new rims with the right offset ........ but money is tight as it is.

its all good. im all about making it as stong as possible.
 
If you can add more angle by all means do it(safely of course). When it comes to parts like that spend what you have to, so its reliable under stress. In the meantime you have very good angle for an FC, your in the ballpark of Haruguchi angle(vid below). Just keep practicing as much as you can and hope to see you at the event(its been awhile) :D .

I could do a better job. And I would use nickel rod. Stainless is better then the 70SR (mild steel) wire you used there because the stainless has a higher nickel content.

Theses pieces are cast steel\iron. If I make good time it would be about an hour to reweld those spindles. I have to grind out the existing weld and prep for proper welding. Preheat the piece before I weld it, weld, then slowly bring it back to ambient temperature.

Noah, im with mranlet and sean. Cast dose not like to quickly heated and cooled off. MIG welding heats the piece very quickly and it is very very very if not impossible to get the strength that a proper tig weld will produce. That weld is cold as well.
