water temp adapter

hopefully someone can give me some help before i drill the radiator hose adaptor. My problem is I got a temp gauge and the fitting is 1/2" but the hole on all the adapters is 1/8" does anyone know of somewhere else i can hook this sensor to? or do i just need to drill and retap the hole on the adapter? btw i have an s14 sr20det. thnx for your help

correct plumbing section

u need a 1/8th npt fitting to a 1/2in npt fitting.

what type of gauge/sensor are u using?? autometer guages use the sensor as a ground so if u install it spliced into the rad. hose it will not work. the sensor needs to be grounded. just given u a heads up
 
its better if you drill and tap it so that the coolant flows through the sensor and not actually in the flow of coolant which will happen in the case of an adaptor
 
^^^ thnx everyone i ended up just drillling it out and retapping it. i guess i shouldve mentioned that the sensor itself wouldnt fit in the 1/8 opening.... but its done so thanx guys
