Ever since I've thought of owning a 240, the only thoughts I had when it came to engine swaps were SR or RB. Until My friend Suggested VQ35DE. Now I'm totally into that Idea and I know that it has been done. Right now I'm in the process of looking for the motor and pretty much just wanted to see if anyone knows someone who's done it or has anything to say about it. Thanks a lot SFL Drifters.:bigthumbu

yea theres a video on the internet of one done. preferably for me i wouldnt do that swap because there are limited things you can do to vqs. thats just my opinion though

yeah, I was wondering that since its a fairly new motor, what limitations does it carry. ECU, its capability to hold high horsepower....etc.

well i did some research about it last year and i cant remember much about it. all i can remember is that even in japan the motor is dislike because the motor wasnt able to be enhanced performance wise. just do your research and make sure its something youll love more than hate

what are you talking? they can be highly modified. you can get a super charger, cams, pistons, rods, just about anything. also if you didnt want to super charge it, they have high compression pistions. i would love to do this swap cause they sound so nice and have such great options. but i am not sure about all the eltronics about it. cause you need to have the key ring and whatnot im not totaly sure but me and electronics arent friends.

its been done quite a few times. thats what im gonna do eventually in my S13. 350hp NA is just too good to pass up.

VQ's are already making sick horsepower - there's no argument there. Do research on the swap though, you'll change your mind.

If i had a zenki the vq would go in the next day. Amaxing engine. Very capable of high numbers but it really doesnt need it. Turbo, supercharge what ever you can afford. The stock VQ is very capable of being FI. Im keeping my z N/A cause the engine is so damn good. But of course theres downsides. Do your homework and see if you really want it.

Yo KaZ you got the heart i have the shell... lets do it, lol

screw the ls1 v6 ftmw!!!!!!!!!!! muahahahahah

show me a V6 that makes 450rwhp N/A Cheaply, adds no weight, and has parts readily available at every autozone, advanced, etc etc store across the country and then I'll agree with you.

Seriously the ls1 makes more sense. Its an easier swap and probably cheaper too - if not in initial cost then definitely dollar/hp cost.

^true but some people wont put a chevy motor in a nissan. I'm thinkn buick 350 in my supra. I got the motor and tranny all i need is a daily while i do the swap.

Um.....screw the joke lets be downers heheheheheh

I wanna do this too!
I think it makes sense cuz nissan to nissan. Id put a ls1 in a rx7 for sure tho.

the major thing in this swap is the wiring. you gotta get standalone. I dont think anyone has got it runnin with a stock ecu, at least from a 3.5 liter (because of the can-bus communication), but theres people trying. you can change the timing chain stuff to a 3.0 maxima vq and use that computer, losing the vtc.

other things are the shifter (you have to take about 4-6 inches out of the linkage depending on how you mount it, use a fwd or rwd vq).

the mounts arent too bad. and just other swap stuff that is fairly straight forward (exhaust, cooling system, power steering, etc.)

other stuff I missin for sure, not too many people have done it yet. also check out

I want stroked n/a vq with true dual exhaust, shit would sound like a freakin porsche for sure.

I don't hate on anyones tastes in motors. I do agree that an LS1 is a more Cost/Effective motor with Sick NA horsepower. The only thing is that I want to keep it Nissan to Nissan Like jc_rcs13 said. I like the idea of the VQ since it weighs the same as a KA and the parts are more readily accessible here in the States. The only thing that worries me is the electronics. With newer engines that come out, they have more user unfriendly tweaks. Look at the new GT-R (at this point) you can't even change the rims without having error messages. I've been to vqswap.com and read up on it and it has convinced me more. I even heard of some guy here in Miami with a VH45 S14. If you build it, It will come. lol
