Vaugn Gittin Jr. Crashes at Turn 1 in Las Vegas

The 2010 Ford Mustasng took a huge hit when Vaughn Gittin Jr. was unable to steer going into turn one of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway track. The Mustang was coming in fast and essentially drove straight into the k-rail as you can see the suspension springs and a wheel/suspension setup are left behind as the car drives off camera. The guys at Falken/ASD were able to get the car back together in just a few hours for qualifying which was amaizng.

With my car and a few newer ones that I have drifted, i have noticed that right at the beginning of a transition the mustangs tend to want to hook and somewhat lunge foward. It sometimes catches you by suprise and makes it difficult to switch back and with the very little room he had there was no way to stop it in time. Its a backlash, at least I found, from using wider tires because of the cars weight. I run 275's in the rear and I belive that he uses like a 305 or 315. Even with all the power there is still a lot of grip to break loose. It really sucks that he crashed. But on the same note its amazing that his team got the car back to a competative state within an hour or so. Huge props to his team.

I've had it happen to me in my s13 before, you lift throttle and wait for the steering wheel to return and it just doesn't. I now drive with my hands on the wheel most of the time now.
