Has anyone used a Presicion GT35R Turbo?

How is it? reliability? Response?

I'm looking for a turbo for my RB25. Anyone have any suggestions?

Preicision turbos are awesome. They have a good history of business behind them.

yes.

i havent at all looked into upgrading RB's. but does garrett make any that bolt up?im sure they do...could go with the setup like Travis has on his s13...gt35r.

gt35R, t4 single entry .58 a\r turbine housing, 3500 full boost fury........ See what other people are getting boost at with ball bearing center sections before your purchase. Might be able to get a .68 a\r and still get full boost not much later then that.

mmm...

Well I want to hit between the 350~400whp range. I was looking for a GT30 ~ GT35 area.

My buddy Zack said he can get one built for me. I guess he knows the guy that owns precision turbo or at least works at it or something because zack has a custom GT35R that he got to pick out the specs for.

More information would be apreciated!!!

Thanks!

For those power goals, go with a GT30r, .82ar. That turbo with a .63 ar is pushing 2ltrs (sr's) into the 450 whp range on pump gas @ 19psi (+/- 1) so it'll get you to your goals no problem with room to grow and less lag (than a 35r). Whatever you do however, don't get a t3 5 bolt hot side.

Well then you're not going to have to worry about it either way, but the 4 bolt t3 GT housings are the only ones with the diverging cone and are made with different materials (higher nickel content) to contain heat. You'd just be losing efficiency by going with an older 5-bolt.

Ok. So I have a turbo lined up to be built for me. It will be a GT35R. A/R.70 T4 exhaust housing.

I can choose from a 58, .68, .81, and .96 on my exhaust housing... Which will make my turbo spool faster??

Also which is better, the 4 bolt or a V-clamp??

Dude before you go and buy a $1000 turbo either have a really good idea about what other people are running or you should plot the compressor and turbine maps for that turbo for your engine.

Smaller a\r will spool your turbo faster, but because it is smaller you will not make as much horsepower. Tq will be there but you will make more horsepower with a larger a\r. IMO full boost at 3600 with a 7k redline is a very usable power band that will make responsive power. So if you find a turbine a\r combination that will give you full boost around there you will be good.

Off the top of my head right now with out doing any math id probably pick the .68 or .70 that you are thinking about for drifting.

The 4 bolt turbine housing or the v-band option is the pattern for the downpipe. So if you have a 4 bolt down pipe flange now, get the 4bolt turbine housing. The v-band connection needs the downpipe to have the same v-band flange on it. I doubt you have a v-band clamp holding your downpipe on if you are asking about it.

Make sure you are set with the correct oil feed and return lines, and if the turbo suggests or tells you to run water, RUN WATER to it.

most important make sure that you know what kind of power band your going to have with the larger turbo, making the correct turbine a\r choice is one of the big factors in turbo response.

Doesn't that Nathan guy run a 35 on his RB25? Maybe you should talk to him. Also, save for a new bottom end.

Travis? Drift Star Syndicate s13 red? I belive that car is running a gt35r, .58 a\r turbine housing, he gets full boost by 3200 so he said in a thread. I think thats too much load on the engine and you can make more power using a .68-.70 a\r.

Justin, I hope you know the limits of your pistons. id imagine your safe at 400whp but no more. I don't know this for sure but I have heard rumors from reliable sources which lead me to suggest no more then 400whp.

Why are you changing the turbo anyways? 290whp is stupid power for someone of your experience level.

Travis, right. Yeah, I'm not good with names. If we were all named after numbers, I'd have a much easier time.

I still think a GT30r is a much better turbo for his application.

Because I just sold a bunch of my old stuff & I've always wanted to have a big top mount turbo like my friends. And because I'm going to college and am not going to be able to put any money in my car for the next 8 years soo I kindof want to finish it up this summer. ( going to law school)

Thanks for the info Guys. I have tried asking this on Nico & florida drift and no one answers, Kindof gay when I put it in the RB section. But thanks for all your advice. The reason I am asking so many stupid questions is because I am confused by all the different manufactures calling their turbo's different names. Like: Turbonetics GT-K 500, Precsion CP6172R, Garrett GT35R, Greddy TDO6, HKS TO4E, and bla bla bla. And because I don't know jack about turbo's sizes and A/R's and whatnot

Anyways, I got the manifold ordered, turbo ordered, I'm going to order cam's and injectors tonight. I hope to have it up & running in the next 3 weeks.

And yes, I understand RB's limits. Thats why I said between 350 ~400. And I drive like a grandma, my car doesn't see boost on the street.

And 290whp is enough, until I drove a 700whp R32 GT-R. and OMFG!

well dont blow it up. thats usually what happens when you start making power. And that was a rb26.
