"trying" to drift(noob)

looking good. just wish i could find a place to practice without worrying about cops. ive tried on top of the abandoned millennium mall but there are always duty cops up there

well the torque converter should do its job, just like stopping at a streetlight.

sliding FWD is really fun actually but... the countersteer works a little differently and even that technique wont carry directly to rwd.

ive been looking for a beater to play with, either a 80's boxy mr2 or a fwd pos.

thanks for the answer.. yeah i know its gonna be diff but i just keep thinkin about all the time lol.. but you already have a drift car right? and u want another to just fuck around with?

thats how I started. It does teach how to get comfortable with countersteer and throttle control.

what car did you have?

im impressed

get in a rwd car
i think you have potential

ha thanks alot man i really want to trust me i cant wait to get rid of my car so i can get one.. but i want to meet more people that drift and learn and get a ride along

yea. but nothing more than like 100-150$ for a car, i really just want to beat the shit out of it and when first thing breaks, sell to a yunkjard. haha.

lmao yeah a 100-150 dollar car i would get too just to beat the shit out of.. but a car for that price probably isnt running

Damn. I can't do as well as you can in a FWD. Good shit man. Just buy yourself a RWD car, and start getting comfortable with that.

Lol thanks.. i'm trying.. i gotta get rid of my car first.. and its gona be hard cuz ive spent so much money and time into it and did all the work myself.. but gota do it..
Still havent decided what car i want to get to drift.. its between
s13,s14,is300,sc300,350z.. and possibly an r32

Skills! makes me wanna go practice in my moms altima... how long have you doing that or was it your first?

thats the funny part.. ive played around with the e-brake before but just doing like 180's ... that was actually the first night going out and ACTUALLY trying to drift the car.. i've just been watchin so many videos and i couldnt help but go out and try it lol.. i did it twice before that vid and i was amazed that i could actually do it.. so the vid was the third drift ever .. all same night

i started in FWD trying slide a 99 escort get in a RWD car youll be much happier

but dont know which rwd car to get.. cant decide! thats why i need to meet more ppl on here and see what cars i like more and shit.. i kno everything about srt's but i dont kno anything about 240's the toyotas..etc.. i need to go for ride alongs to see how each car feels

Hell yeah. I started on my 93 escort....wagon and auto :D. Put a strutbar on the rear to stiffen the back....I could get the tail out if I had low pressure on my rear tires or if I feinted a little. I have to admit I did eat a curb at least 4 different times.....and yet my escort always kept on going and never broke something. That shit was a tank.

I just bought my 93 240sx but college is owning me :( I need some time and an empty parking lot to go and play and see what it can do. Shit I can't wait to get some $ and buy a helmet to start going to events and really start learning.

Fuck what the haters and fan bois say. If you feel the bug and only have a fwd for the time being then why the hell not? This aint D1. You are just going out and having fun. Its your car, do whatever the hell you want with it.

haha nice nice.... yo but having lower tire pressure wouldnt that mean it would be harder to break traction?

and yeah ive found some empty parking lots that are pretty nice but still gotta worry about cops a little but .. its blacktop and its quiet..
and yeah i def "feel the bug" i cant stop doing it lol.. trust me if i had a rwd i wouldnt be using my car but i dont so gotta make do with what i have.. and i can do 2 full circles around a car sliding the whole time so i'd say its pretty good

I know that for drifting people usually pump up their rear tires, sometimes to 50+ psi. But maybe its different in a fwd. It also depends on how you are initiating the drift and the condition of your tires I guess.

When I did this I had my rears on really low pressure, like 15psi. I would do it on a curving on ramp, like the ones you use to get onto the turn pike. I would get up to 45-60mph and use my left foot on the brake to balance the car out, then do a little feint, but really fast, as I released the brake and the tires would start sliding. I had very worn tires at the time so that also contributed.

Anyways I dont know, thats just how I would do it and never really got too much practice. If you are doing it on the rain, I guess pumping up your rears would make more sense.... like I said im no expert, I just tried out different things. The one thing I never tried was pumping it up over 50 psi...maybe it would have been better :bigthumbu

-and no, absolutely no traffic around me and not during the day. Im not a retard-

ER34 come out to some events, meet drivers, look at their cars, ask questions, and go for some ride alongs. Countyline allows ride alongs for an extra $10, if you have a helmet and pants. Come out to the Drift USA Competition on March 15, I think you will learn a lot.
