tomei vs. kaaz

i have a tomei and its baller

every one seems to think so.....it might be the way to go, but im gunna c what i can get for cheaper first then ill let yall kno....i just put a jwt flywheel and all the goodness...so im kinda broke ahahah

i had a cusco in my laurel. that was a good diff. it was just as loud as a welded diff with the skipping wheel but the wheel didnt skip. it rattled the shit out of the car tho but never made the tire skip. i miss that sound. and it saved tires. i hate dd my welded diff. already gotta get new tires and they are only 6 months old.

Totally false.

To my knowledge, neither Tomei, nor Kaaz (the maker of Tomei diffs) or any other LSD manufacturer offer a diff w/ceramic clutch plates. You might be confusing Carbon for Ceramic. I think the only company's doing carbon diffs are Carbonetic (used to be a division of ATS) and maybe OS (I think).

It's not totally false. I could be wrong on materials - can't find the info anymore and its been a while - but Tomei has always expressed their desire to increase streetability w/ their diffs. This is all i can find now (in engrish, making it more authentic):

More quieter and improved transmission efficiency with Tomeis " ADVANCE DISC". The friction quality changed with the new surface finish. Smoother operations and more stable behavioral changes with either being ON or OFF the throttle. There is no loud LSD crackling sounds and therfore making it more comfortable for the daily street driven car.

Yeah, you were probably thinking carbon. I have a Tomei, it clanks like a sonovabitch.

If your 2 way doesn't make noise, be worried.

If you want a 2 way that doesn't make noise, you're gay.

i odnt know about that either cause nolsdneed has a kaaz 2-way and his shit isnt noisy at all and that shit locks like hell. i think the "streetable" includes noise reduction, because at the end of the day if im gonna go out and spend the money then i want my diff quiet and efficient.

My kazz is loud as shit... depending on the fluid you run it does help the noise a little. I like it though, let's me know it working.

At the last fairgrounds event it went quiet half way through the day and would only spin the left tire. I though I broke it but hitting that bump sideways caused my right half shaft to remove itself from the diff. Not a fun ride home but I was very relived to find that it was nothing major:bigthumbu

i had a kazz 2way in my supra for the moroso kart event it was quieter then the stock 2way and locked so much better.

Yeah I don't feel like Im gay for wanting a quiet diff. I did the gutted, caged, race car thing already. I'm doing the cold a/c, good radio, can have a conversation with my passenger thing now. I don't need to prove to anyone im hardcore by having a noisy car.

I have tomey and it grinds when decelerate is that normal? the tomey works excellent for drift, the car slides very good, only in the rain I have to be careful to much acel on corners and you spin out and crash already happened to me like to weeks ago when I got the 240.

+1!!

That is not what I'm saying! I have a 3" exhaust that makes plenty of noise but if I can get the exact same performance out of part A as part B and part A will cause less in-car noise/disturbance, I know which part I'm going for these days. Anyone who wants to say I'm gay for wanting the quieter option can eat poop.
