alright so i dont know much about tie rods and the whole steering assembly or whatever you wanna call it
So heres the problem. My tie rods have always been worn since ive had the car cause there old, ok yeah thats normal. So for christmas i got new back tires at tire kingdom, and we went ahead and got an allignment plan where we payed once, and then for a whole year i can bring it in whenever i want and get it alligned for "free"
so on the way out of the freaking parkinglot, genious me goes over a curb that i guess i didnt see that was right fucking next to me lol
im not sure if its the curb, or the fact that it got alligned and the tie rods were tampered with for the last time, or both, but instead of my steering feeling solid, and only slightly pulling to one way or the other, it feels wobly as hell and it pulls to whichever way the hell it wants to, or if im slightly turning itl just straighten out of freaking nowear, and its just scary
i thought it was probably my tie rods, so i traded my old suspension for some tie rods (both inner and outer) which i figured was better than mine. one looks fine, on the other, the boot is torn, so i figured i didnt want to waste the time swapping them if thats not even the problem
the one thing that i realized today, since my outer tie rods look fine, and the ones i got, one looks pretty bad cause the boot is open, i realized it could be the inner tie rod thats the problem, and my tie rod ends are fine.
paul (driftnr14) also came by to pick up some calipers, and he said it could be the steering rack bushings, so i gotta look into that as well
i tryed moving the knuckle with my hand when the wheel was off, and it felt pretty solid, so idk
summary
whenever i drive over 60, the car pulls whichever way it wants to out of nowear and feels like im driving on jello, and is scary as fuck to drive. i dont know what the problem is, im thinking it could be the tie rods (inners or outers, i have no idea), but i dont know anything about this, so does sombody who knows more than i do have any ideas on what it is?
how do i know if its my inner or outer thats the problem, or if its not even tie rod related?
