alright so i dont know much about tie rods and the whole steering assembly or whatever you wanna call it

So heres the problem. My tie rods have always been worn since ive had the car cause there old, ok yeah thats normal. So for christmas i got new back tires at tire kingdom, and we went ahead and got an allignment plan where we payed once, and then for a whole year i can bring it in whenever i want and get it alligned for "free"

so on the way out of the freaking parkinglot, genious me goes over a curb that i guess i didnt see that was right fucking next to me lol

im not sure if its the curb, or the fact that it got alligned and the tie rods were tampered with for the last time, or both, but instead of my steering feeling solid, and only slightly pulling to one way or the other, it feels wobly as hell and it pulls to whichever way the hell it wants to, or if im slightly turning itl just straighten out of freaking nowear, and its just scary

i thought it was probably my tie rods, so i traded my old suspension for some tie rods (both inner and outer) which i figured was better than mine. one looks fine, on the other, the boot is torn, so i figured i didnt want to waste the time swapping them if thats not even the problem

the one thing that i realized today, since my outer tie rods look fine, and the ones i got, one looks pretty bad cause the boot is open, i realized it could be the inner tie rod thats the problem, and my tie rod ends are fine.

paul (driftnr14) also came by to pick up some calipers, and he said it could be the steering rack bushings, so i gotta look into that as well

i tryed moving the knuckle with my hand when the wheel was off, and it felt pretty solid, so idk

summary
whenever i drive over 60, the car pulls whichever way it wants to out of nowear and feels like im driving on jello, and is scary as fuck to drive. i dont know what the problem is, im thinking it could be the tie rods (inners or outers, i have no idea), but i dont know anything about this, so does sombody who knows more than i do have any ideas on what it is?

how do i know if its my inner or outer thats the problem, or if its not even tie rod related?

how do i know if its good? where can i get a new boot for the outer tie rod if i do switch mine with the ones i picked up from the old suspension i traded

they have the boots that connect the inner tie rods to the steering rack, im talking about the boots on the tie rod ends, you know the little rubber ball things at the end where the castle nut screws onto that thing

Fix what? A torn boot is a torn boot. If the ball joint is still lubricated and in good shape, you'll be fine.

imm gonna say your tension rods are probably fucked, if they are stock they have this rubber donut inside the eye that is filled with fluid when they get old they can tear and the fluid leaks out and then your caster can then fluctuate wildly, I say just to be safe put new inner and outer tie rods and new aftermarket pillowball tension rods which I would have down to begin with the car just drive soo much better with them even if it wasnt the problem i'd still replace them.

here are a really good set not the cheapest but I wouldnt want to cheap out on heim joints http://www.splparts.com/main4/index.htm

If you wanna be somewhat cheap, Id say go to Discount get Z32 inner and outer tie rods. and then order Energy Suspension Tension rod bushings. Thats basically the cheapest most efficient route for tightening up the looseness. I had that set-up for over a year, and alignment was great.

i replaced the tension rods with brand new oem ones over the summer as on of the first things i did to the car

the tie rods are pretty bad, i guess ill change them with the ones i have in the garage since i get a free allignment anywas, but id still like to replace the boot on it just because

^ how much did the oem tension rods run you? I wouldn't have even bothered buying oem replacements

the rack could also be going bad. i doubt tie rods would do anything to notice. it possible the joints on the tie rod ends are worn out. you'd be able to notice bad tire rods going fast or slow.

i dont remember how much the tension rods were, but my dad got em for me, and the car drove a LOT better with them replaced so im not gonna complain

i still havnt fucking driven the car lol and i might need a new back left caliper cause mine might be siezed

i just finished replacing the studs for the extended studs, so once i lower the car back on the ground ill be able to tell if i need a new caliper or if itl just loosen up when i drive, then i still have to deal with the tie rod issue, or whatever the hell it is making my car drive like this

if the steering rack is going bad where could i get a replacement and is it a lot of money?

im still wondering if it has anything to do with when i hit the curb leaving TK
cause when i did that, it drove straight but then pulled whichever way it wanted to barley, but still turned normally, then progressivley got worse and worse

k well i drove the car for the first time in forever yesterday

i figured out my leak isnt an engine leak, its a power steering leak, and the powersteering squeals like a mofo, and its annoying as hell lol

once i fix that i gotta look into seeing what the hell the problem is with my steering

im hoping its not the steering rack, cause that would probably be expensive.
how could i tell if its just the bushings that need to be replaced?
